    VRO 150 Ocean Pro

Should be going through roughly 1 gallon of oil for every 50 gallons of fuel. Does that match with what you have going on?

    1708 mat for stringers

You will want to coat the transom skin with a layer of PB using a notched trowel, coat the plywood the same way. Squeeze together and clamp. After it cures you will do the same thing with the next layer. A good amount will squeeze out and that is a good thing. Also coat the wood with alayer of...

    1708 mat for stringers

I don't have any experience with brackets and don't know how they distribute force on the transom.

    1708 mat for stringers

2 sheets is fine, that is what the factory originally installed.

    new guy boat maintenance question?

Not that I am aware of. You can grease the steering bar(?) at the grease fittings at the motor but not the cable itself. Also, may may know this but before I go to the boat ramp, while at the house I lower my engine and turn the steering wheel all the way in both directions. If the steering is...

    1708 mat for stringers

2 sheets of 3/4" marine grade ply, birch. You just can't get two transom cut-outs out of 1 sheet. Very close but not quite possible.

    1708 mat for stringers

Big zip lock bags with some duct tape on one edge then cut the corner off to make it like a pastry bag to squeeze out like icing. Smoothed the radius with plastic spoons.

    1708 mat for stringers

Here are a couple pics, one is before bedding and the other shows a test fit of the cap but you can see the layers of tabbing from the ink I marked the glass to cut the widths. See how nice that radius is....pretty proud of that

    1708 mat for stringers

The foam is probably just as good but I would tab with the full 4 layers if you go that route. The PB is a mix of cabosil and resin. It isn't the wood flour. Some people get all frothy mouthed about using 5200 versus foam versus PB for bedding. I read an awful lot and personally liked the PB...

And another center console owner!!! Show us pics of what your concerns are and we can go from there. Are the soft spots in the deck in front of the console or behind?

    1708 mat for stringers

Thats right. I went overboard and cut strips 4", 8", 10" and 12" but that was way overboard. You'll cut your stringers to size, I used spacers (my center bulkheads and barclamps to get my stringers the right distance apart as well as perfectly perpendicular and situated the stringers so...

    1708 mat for stringers

You can use a single layer of 1708 which includes a layer of CSM stiched in. Biax by itself will not waterproof your wood if you are using VE or PE. Keep in mind that is only on the wrap from your sides and top. You will need several layers of 17 oz biax like Kracker described when you tab...

Replacing stringers while on Roller trailer

Not on mine, once you remove the rub rail there will be another row of screws under that. Don't forget to remove all wiring and fuel fill and vent lines. I recommend you put a screw driver bit in your drill rather than use a cordless screw driver. Goes much faster getting (80) 1.5" screws out.

    Heavy fiberglass mat

By all means, use the csm in addition to the biax. If you plan to use polyester, you need the csm for waterproofing anyway. I would wet out my csm and then immediately lay a layer of 17 oz biax on top, roll it out, then repeat laying the csm then biax going in another direction. CSM is great for...

Considering buying v20 project in NC

I don't know guys, looks like a deal to me. The trailer does look good, can't see any rust even on the bunk supports. As far as deck drains, I beleive from the second pic his deck drains are plumbed the same as mine. They go from the deck into the splashwell and out the back through the transom...

Replacing stringers while on Roller trailer

I had torn about half of my foam out when I first started and came back to that part of the project. The boat was out of the elements that entire time (about 2-3 months) and the weather was warm. The remainng foam was still dripping wet when I pulled it out. They should sell that stuff in plant...

Replacing stringers while on Roller trailer

I took pictures of everything I could take a picture of. Every electrical fitting, every place fiberglass came together, I included rulers to get a sense of scale. I figure it will help when I hook everything back up. I've referenced many pics that where completely insignificant when I took them...

Replacing stringers while on Roller trailer

Without the hatch covers its probably close to a little over 400 LBS. Also, once you get the engine, cap, tank, and water-soaked foam out, the hull does not weigh very much. It will be much easier to slide off the trailer.
