    Carb rebuilt

I was wrong. It was a 240Z from the 70’s. He found some repaired cracks in the block that he didn’t like, got a good 280Z block and built it up from scratch, swapped out the stock transmission for a 5 speed, and a bunch more. I think about the only things he didn’t redo were the paint and the...

    Storm damage nearly erased..

Yeah - the whole south end of the house renovation T1-11 was rotted. It was less expensive to do it with Hardie plank. The few sheets of T-1 I bought to fix spot rot were over $100/ sheet for the better stuff, and a few of the filler patches curled up and fell out (and it was in the Summer)...

You really dove in. I love electrical, so I always do all of that, the demo, framing repairs, siding, set up for flat work, all the finish carpentry, misc. stuff, but left drywall, paint, insulation, cabinets and countertops to others. We’re getting ready to build a downsize house, and prices...

    Storm damage nearly erased..

Looks like you made your own cabinets. I did a renovation a couple of years ago, on a house we bought for a rental. I did lots of the work myself, went home soaked with sweat many days, wife got me ambulatory often with a big percussive vibrator on my back and lost about 20 lbs over a year of...

    Adding a pulpit

That’s exceptionally nice work. The nickel per hour is just a bonus on top of the recreational aspect and how good you feel when you see your work (and get well deserved complements on it).

    Putting hole in console

Hole saw’s less likely to grab running counterclockwise, like Spare suggested, but that’s a really good warning. Hold the drill so if it catches, it jerks your finger OFF the trigger, and if the drill has a screw-in handle, use it.

I don’t think an expired certificate necessarily means the site is unsafe. If you know a tech person, you might find out more, and checking back off and on, you might fin the certificate is renewed.

    Am I crazy?

Well, I don’t think so, but it’s a good thing we live 3000 miles apart so our wives won’t be getting together.😬

    Quiet like a mouse

I used to laugh about my folks talking about medical issues a lot. Now I laugh with my friends about how much WE talk about medical stuff. One of my fishing buddies and I each recently had a longtime, good friend get and rapidly die of cancer. I can tell you, we talked about that some, but...

Spare, it's going to get better

tWhat goes around comes around. Your epic generosity with us mechanical, but not mechanic guys over the years couldn’t go without rewards. You saved my head from exploding when I was sleeving the gauled cam shaft in the water pump and trying to get the seal installed without screwing it up on...

    Tattoos yuk

Hah, I’m with you. Blood thinners don’t help the bruising situation, and make small dings that I don’t even notice at the time leak so it looks like I’ve been in a knife fight. I like the senior tattoo description - I’ll be using that🤣.

I wouldn’t have a problem with the political forum going away.

    I want my 70s back

Yeah - I cleaned my battery terminals, only took a few minutes, and lost all my presets.
