SNOW in Florida!!!!

What’s going on? Weatherman says we got snow on the way. 1-3 inches!! They’ve cancelled school til Thursday. Banks and county govt offices have shut down. No trash pick-up after noon tomorrow.

How do you guys live in this stuff, I’ll take hurricanes anyday.

Wish us luck

Similar story here in SC. County offices closing today even though no precip is anticipated before tomorrow evening. I'm looking forward to a Wednesday working from home day. Just so we don't lose power . . .

i used to have natural gas heat, loved it. Cheap and very warm. Switched to all electric heat pump bout 20 years ago. Great AC , lousy heat source when it drops below 30*

Last time we had snow was Dec. ‘89.

Agree with u Pipe, power outage would be bad.

It was 0 this morn when I woke up. About 9 inches of snow. Coal stove in house is running full blast and the wood stove in garage is burning. Had to go out a couple days ago and stand on a snow covered ladder cleaning snow off the boat cover.
School is on a 2 hr delay today and tomorrow because its cold!

You have that right ,Blue. This stuff was fun for a couple of hours. Now I’m ready for it to melt and go away. I know u guys think we’re wimps, but no experience with it. Cold is not too bad, only 22*,but iced roads,Yeeech!
Town is shut down till Friday

There are 5 bridges that connect us to rest of Forida, they’re all closed

Also learned you should take down your sunshades BEFORE it snows

Speaking of bagels...

I’m sure most of ya’ll are thinking what’s the big deal. Prior to this storm, the record for snow accumulation in was 2.5 inches in 24 hours. This storm dumped 8.5 inches of snow in Milton in about 10 hours. It’s on I-10,bout 20miles east of the FL/ALA line. Saw on the news, roof of Mobile Al civic center collapsed due to snow. We’re just not engineered for this

This never happened until we were on the Gulf of America

G, that looks more like a Sugar Doughnut from Dunkin.

Admin, good luck on getting a Bacon Bagel, I’ve been trying for years.

We got maybe 2-3" but it started as several hours of sleet which froze on everything and then changed to snow on top. We're on the third day and side roads are still pretty bad. Where cars drove over it and compacted it it's thick ice which will take the longest to melt.

When I checked on the old Pipe Dream she was sitting low in the water. This stuff was heavy and it kind of drifted in the cockpit so she was listing to starboard. I didn't like it one bit so I had to break it lose and throw the stuff overboard.

The marina started to look like an ice field, but the stuff melted pretty fast in the saltwater.

We've had worse snows here in the past 35 years, but this one looks like it will stick around the longest because it's still going down into the 20s every night.
