Made me a rod working lathe

I've worked on some rods in the past and had a make shift deal set up with a drill motor but I have some rods that need attention and decided to build something better. It has a 5rpm synchronous motor out of a microwave. Should do nicely I think. Still have a couple things to finish up like the felt on the racks.

This motor is obviously for drying flex coat but I have a fast one on a foot pedal for wrapping.

Man, is there anything you can't do? Love the 3-jaw chuck, that will work. I got too much going on to attempt the setup, let alone spend any quality time with it. Love to try one day. Keep us posted.

Dang Stink, that's really nice!! Exceptionally nice setup!
Never thought about putting a motor on one.
My father threw together a manual one a little over 35 years ago the morning before he was to go fishing finding out the eyes were falling off the poles and there were no stores open that had the rods he needed.
Dang, I'm still using that thing.

Great Job!!
I never had a motor on mine that I liked but did use a rotisserie motor for drying.

Stink, that is REALLY nice. Nicely thought out, very professional. How do you mount the PVC 3 jaw chuck to the motor? :head:

I taped and thread the shaft coming out of the motor...then just drilled a hole through the PVC cap and used the machine bolt to hold it on. Its a 10-24 I think.

Super... thanks... I may try and duplicate that unit sometime in the future... Again, really impressed with it

The one capable of awing us with his rod working lathe also shoots fireworks out of his butt.

Stink, were you the kid on Ritalin back in school?
