anybody out there familiar with this system? do you know how to check operation/troubleshoot the system? i tried searching the interwebs but cant find too much info. motor is an '85 yamaha 150etxk

they generally don't give many problems, probably the best oil injection out there

Only system I liked better was SUZUKI's. Same pump, but had the reservoir built in under the cowling so no remote tanks, electric pumps, float switches, or etc to give trouble. At least the jap motors used bronze drive gears instead of nylon, or a complicated dual diaphram pump to try and vary the oiling. As for how to test it, you will need a manual or the specs. You get a graduated cylinder and measure how much oil it pumps during a timed cycle at a certain RPM with the pump closed, and then again with the oil pump set to wide open. They rarely give trouble though, and you hardly ever hear of a YAMAHA with an oil inejction problem so long as oil is kept in it. And when you do hear of a problem it is normally just teh float swtch for the transfer pump that has failed.

mine has a reservoir under the cowl. apparently they have an on board tank to transfer from and transfer tank but i dont see it anywhere.
