You see, for decades, Washington has been adding to the number of federal laws and regulations that carry criminal penalties. Now the number is so high, no one is actually sure how many there are....but the best guess is 300,000 - 400,000. Put another way, 1 in every 100 people in the United States is now guilty of a federal crime...and most don't even know it. It's called overcriminalization.
