tackle station

in the sea ox i got the idea of using pvc tubes with screw on covers, i put a number on each to say what size is in it, they work great and i can carry plenty! i have the tubes in a milk crate and just take out what i need, kept all nice and neat and sizes separate.

Ha, ha, ha...

Here is a pic of mine...I can't take credit for it though, was done by PO. All drawers lock from inside cabin.

W/all the talk about tackle stations and the high cost of Starboard, cam's pic made me think of HYBRID construction...frame and drawers of wood, then FACE the drawers and trim w/starboard...as said above, 1/4" starboard is not so expensive and would be great for trim & facing...

that is a great place ror the unit Cam, that's where i would build mine if i didn't have the sliding lexan door in the way.

that's where I put a tackle drawer in my 1st one back in '99 and you're right...IDEAL location...

It would be an invoved project, no doubt, but would it be feasable to convert the slider into a hinged swinger?...just thinkin' out loud here...:head:

Tackle Bolster

Reel

Sounds like your talking about a bolster. I have one in V20 that I suspect would work well in place of your captain chair, that way you could still keep the back to back seating and still get a tackle station. Mine is made of fiberglass and teak, but after seeing Ridges rig. I agree with it would look better in starboard!

Many thanks for the suggestion..but mine is cuddy and I'll eventually add tackle station under port dash in location above...this is 1st V I've had w/simple pedistals under seats and I'm REELY liking the GOBS of floor space that provides...Happy Trails!!

Reel the 89 also has a bump out for an 8 inch deep glovebox that i would have to remove ( not terrible ) but the thing is if i hung a swinging door i would have to add a piece of wood to support the weight of the door which would reduce the size of the opening, and if you ever saw me crawl in and out of that cabin as is you would get quite a laugh as i have really big shoulder, its like trying to putting 6 lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag . that is the one single thing i dont like about my V And Kam, i have a deck hatch rebuild project going on now, if that works out well i will build a storage unit from scratch. and if it does'nt we'll see. thanks again guys,

I never realized the '89 was so unique...can ya scratch up some pics for us??...hmmm?

I've had 3 different year models and so far, NONE have had a door on the cuddy...the '74 wasn't designed w/one...the '95's door didn't survive the PO...and the '84's door was falling apart, so it got removed 1st thing...if ya need lockable storage, i guess it's needed, but other than that, l've never seen the need on this size boat...

Reel,i am not exactly what one mite call technology oriented. but i am waiting for one of my daughters to show me how to do the pics. and i will be doing plenty of them when i complete this project this spring .
