Night Boating

one of my customers has FLIR hooked up thru his Garmin display, pretty sweet setup

If you watch the video on that site, they explain that FLIR will not shoot thru glass or plastic...not only that, the resolution of this system is phenomenal...much better than IR...neat stuff and I love runnin at night...

thats a nice little toy, might have to look into it eventually, always scared im going to tangle up in a crab pot line coming in at night, or hit some floating junk.

I'm with you on the love running at night/early morning. I usually go out fishing around 3am to give me time to be on the fishing grounds by 4:30-5:00 am. But I'm running a river and truthfully there have been a few very narrow misses with bouys and banks. Thought several times about buying a good set of night vision goggles. May have to rethink that in light of this product. :head:

Don't know, but I'd think goggles are gonna cost near this unit's price...I think I'd like usin' this better cuz ya don't have to wear 'em...goggles being IR, will they see thru glass and plastic?

I saw them on that show, what is nice is that my new Garmin has the video input and ready for one of them!
But there is no boating this year so I will wait for next year and see what happens??

That is pretty cool, but I'd feel like a real tool putting 2K worth of FLIR gear on a $1200 boat ... but that probably wont stop me from doing it next year.

i have a 84 Sea ox and with hard top, motor, electronics, rewiring, i have $20k so whats another $2k??

Looking at it that way might be a little askew...could be that 2K saves yer a$$ and many Ks avoiding something while running in dark as opposed to slammin' into it...

And not meaning to nit-pick, but that system isn't FLIR or any kind of Infra Red...it's ambient light enhancement...two completely different systems...

Glad you saw it MJ...glad SOMEBODY saw it!!...better start savin up now, cuz you'll need one of those next year!!...

I think if anyone needs some more info on stuff like this can talk with Lee Garagenc ... he was telling me about some night vision stuff hes worked with and has that was pretty impressive....

Oh BELIEVE ME!!...that little fooker can find his way around in the DARK!...lol!!

Spare Said: yeah, but from what i hear, he has a hard time finding his way down Coleman Blvd

Jelousy jelousy will get you 2 nowhere. I have help seeing in the dark from Mr. Krinkle and his glo sticks:hide:
