My son and I purchased a 1985 V20 Fisherman Open Bow with a 2000 year model Johnson 225 Outboard. Awesome boat!

The problem now is this; Almost a year ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer which is inoperable. The chemo treatments leave me weak and unable to stand for a long period of time. When we bought the boat it had the captain chairs removed because the previous owner said they got in his way when fishing and he stood when piloting anyway. He apparently gave the seats away. When he removed the them he did not seal the old screw holes that anchered them to the floor. We did BUT the floor underneath the seats seems too miable to hold a seat and passenger since the floor seems "mushy" to me. I don't have much money since the cancer has cost me my job and I am now earning 1/5th the earnings I used to make since I am now on long term disaability. I was a high tech computer salesman at Lenovo and sold systems internationally. Therefore whatever I do to correct this has to be done VERY inexpensively or by myself and my son. Removing the floor seems ominous to me and expensive.

I have a center T-TOP that appears to be anchored to floor joists and my thoughts were to add a plate to the surface of the floor and anchore to thos beams behind the center console and the anchor the replacement seats(s) to the plate. Any ideas?

I believe in miracles and pray that God will see this cancer slowed or stopped BUT I have to live month-to-month for now and would like to be able to captain this boat this summer since this may be my last season to do so. Please do not feel sorry for me I am fighting this cancer and intend to beat it I simply mention it to show you my constraints on what I am able to do with the repair do to my circumstances.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Oh, also if you know any other boat captains who have seats that get in their way and don't need them pleae give them my email address :)

GREAT forum... great posters!

Hey Fish, I'm probably not the best person to answer your question but, exactly how big of an area seems weak? Would the attachment points (4 corners) on a flip/flop cooler seat extend out into "good" floor?

Sounds like you have the right attitude about your health issue. Keep it up.

i have these, i upgraded to some lumber had. you are welcome to them for shipping. but if you have a weak deck, they would be hard to mount and you would need the pedistal assy. probably cheaper to go the cooler route.
