Help with V-20 emblem /

Hey everyone need some help with two things. One I have been searching for an original set of the V-20 emblem made out of plastic with no such luck was able to find a lot of the decals. I do have a plastic set that I removed in ok condition. Not sure if anyone has found any out there if not that brings me too the 2nd question.

Have been contacting and speaking with different company's around here in using mine as a template and making new ones out of stainless , aluminum , Plastic I know ss would last a lot longer and with CNC would look great. Already tried contacting Wellcraft with no luck but was able to set-up an copyright remake release form for such emblem we'll see how that goes either way I am planing on having them made. Meeting with two of the CNC company's next week too go over price. Went with theses company's mainly because they did not mind taking the time for smaller projects and they use a lot of SS and would be able to hopefully use some of their scrape material to keep the pricing down.

So basically what does everyone think about this left field plan and which material should be used...I know price will be the main factor as of right now only one said it should be around 125.00 per set in SS raised design out of 1/4 material. After the cost of set-up and design around 350.00 so it's not that bad as long as more can be sold. Will get firm pricing later next week. Sorry for the long thread just looking for everyone's input...

hmm. I've always loved the look of stainless, but I think plastic would last even longer in this application. If you go aluminum, you might want to get it anodized. What is the final size of this emblem?

Ok, once again I'm confused.. (and once again that's normal).. so help an old salt out.. what is it that you're going to do with these V emblems? Are you planning to mount them to your boat, sell them here, sell them on the internet...what?

If all you want is a set of decals made out of vinyl for your boat then look at the various threads here. One of our members has a sign shop and makes them. For an extra few bucks he will even laminate them so they will last even longer (about 20 years). I've bought them and put them on my boat and they look great. Very professional, quick turn around and easy to apply. So if that's all you're looking for then that's the route I'd go. I forget what they cost, but I know it was less than half a hundred.

Look up threads from JTinker on this site. This is my boat with the decals he made:

If I go aluminum it will have to be anodized black to match the old ones or SS. I will pull my old set out to measure and let you know but they will be made to the same size.

I know a lot of people will wonder why go though the trouble , Just like the look of the real emblem instead of the decals. That and I'm just plan NUTS

I suspect that you're laboring under a false assumption. The original emblems were decals, not raised emblems. If you look carefully at the first pic I posted you can see where the original decal was, and all that remained of it. But it wasn't a raised emblem. I agree that an emblem would look crazy good, but it won't be original. :head:

Check out this website. This guy is very well known and trusted on the ClassicMako website. He can make anything from custom instrument panels to boat name/emblem/placards. Dont know about aluminum but he is excellent with plastics.

He goes by ScottC on classicmako.com

Hey Destroyer just looked at a few older 70's models it's funny some have the decals and others have the factory plastic ones as well had the large side Wellcraft logo in plastics which I have only a few small chunks that where still rivet to the side's. Looked a little bit more it appears Wellcraft made a few commercial V-20's that came with the raised panel plastic. Why did they make theses to drive me nuts looking for something only a hand full came with no-wonder I can't find them. Thanks for the info with out it I would have not know or looked a little more in to it. Still plan on making them maybe even the side ones not sure why just because I guess.

Mac is right. My 1974 V has the plastic emblems. They are intact but I would love to find a source for a couple of new ones.

Ray I will let everyone know when the first ones are done and what the price will be. Did your v have the side ones still intact. I only have a few pc left

My 74 also has the plastic V badges on the side as well as plastic wellcraft badges on the rear of the hull!!! I would be interested in purchasing both sets. My wellcraft badges are gone but the v's are still perfect but showing their age. Keep me posted

Sweet! Yeah both of mine were fully intact but I only had the two on either side of the cuddy. The Wellcraft emblems and lettering on either side were gone except for pieces. Anyone know of a source for those

I'm looking for the actual plastic emblems not the decals. Although I may have to use the decals because thus far the search for the plastic ones has been fruitless.

Sorry for the delay been tided up with the new state tax crap Man NJ sucks.
Was able to get down to the shop on Friday and drop off the V 20 emblem they will let me know the price in a few days as well as design options. I'm looking for anyone who has pic's of the side Wellcraft emblems and the size's I only have a few pieces and I already filled in the old rivet holes and don't want to guess at the size. Thanks for the help.

Hey Destroyer not sure about the new part but will be in 2012. I have few contractors that I always use to speed things up all of them are legal company's with all there insurance up to date soup too nuts their legal. But seance they do not have a web site and or advertise nor do I, Word of mouth only for over 20 years now. But the state says now their my employee's and I must pay out the 4% for each. As of right now I know of over 20 small company's going though the same thing with the same state auditor and man she rips you from side to side for no reason at all. After the lawyer got involved I was able to get a few answers and found that I'm more then legal in fact they owe me but that will be taken for the 4% crap. So I guess if you find good reliable contractors you can count on , You can only use them ones in a while or they will become your employee's. You know this country was built by the small guy's and their Company's now every time you turn they want to increase this and that.Wish they had to work all day long and then go home and do all the paper work and estimates and then tell me how much of a luxury TAX it is. Read bradfords post new tax laws up an coming for 2012 as well.

You know after all this all I want is a pic of the Wellcraft side emblems working on the V is what keeps me sane.Nothing like the smell of resin and glass in the morning...

Ahhh...ok, now I understand.. Thought you were talking about a new Motor Vehicle tax. Ya, this country is going to hell in a hurry. Just wait till Jan 1 of 2011, when the Bush tax cuts expire. I sincerely think that our president is actually trying to destroy America as we knew it and impose his vision of a utopia (AKA: Communism) on all of us. I cannot wait until he and the rest of his leftist progressive radicals are out of office. :bat: God help us all..
