THANK YOU Spareparts!!

The way you guys work together is awsome! I too would love to see pics of the work in progress, perhaps even get some more ideas!
That Spareparts fellow is one great guy isn't he!
Always ready to help out anybody, even us exiles from the south!!!
:sand:

No doubt Spare has become one of a few GO-TO-GUYS on the board!!...he, Skools and Ferm are probably the BIG 3 when it comes to great technical info...these guys are great...but IMHO, the collective knowledge and everybody's willingness to jump in and help thru issues, projects, parts and wide ranging opinions and been-there-done-that advice make V-20.com a REAL treasure for those of us who love and work on our V-20s & 21s!!...

...and we like pictures, too!!...

I like the blue hull!! Nice work guy's!!

Have you looked into a extension kit for making your motor a 25"?? From what I have seen on most kits, its just a spacer and a longer rod and water tubes, If they make one for your motor that might be the way to go?

Good Luck!

the shift rod is going to be the stickler on the extension kit, I gotta do soem research. Ferm, Skools, what kind of ideas ya'll got

not sure but can't you use 2 pieces of stainless channel to make a drop down part to lower the motor.

here's a 25" that may fit the motor not sure if the honda 130 and 150 gear case is a like.

Before I found my V w/ the 20" transom, my plan was to use the jackplate method. I think that as long as you are carefull not to tilt it up too far it will work.

Of course the ideal setup would be a hydraulic jack plate so you could raise it before tilting up, allowing for FULL TILT.

This is great Guys!!...dis wat I talkin bout...

Skools, the 130 preceeded the 135 & 150 and as far as I know aren't compatable...sure LOOKS the same, though...I'll ask my dealer buddy Mon...

And Ferm!!!...man I'll definately track down BAY...looks innerestin!!...

Or if I can locate an extension like MJ's talkin bout...then hey!!...I'm ridin inna BOAT!!...:sun:

I have done a quick look and it seems the kits are all over the place for merc, rudes, johnson, yamaha but nothing for Honda??
I am sure there is a way, maybe your dealer can tell you how?

Good Luck

MJ!!...you just turned the light ON!!

Not only MY DEALER...but a DEALER SEARCH!!...somewhere there's a dealer w/a blown powerhead on a 135 or 150...I got a meeting Mon morning, but after that, I'll be in touch w/Holdens an see how best to contact LOTS of Honda dealers to find this thing!...

Thanks MJ!!...I feel better already...:sun:

Randleman...I've thought about a hydraulic jack...agreed, that would probably work pretty good...how much one of those things can be had for these days?...

yes but you will need the whole mid section and lower unit, remove your power head and install on the other one. A lot of work, be easier to find a extension kit, but hey if you are willing there is a way.

So I gotta replace the mid-section AND the lower unit?...wouldn't a replacement bolt up to my existing lower?...

Phat, I have considered tradin in the Honda for a new 200 Etec...but then I snap back to the reality of jumpin under a monthly payment again...naaa...

Yeah i can totally relate to that, plus you really know your motor, so i understand. You would have to replace the lower unit because the drive shaft is too short. on the extension kits, you get longer studs for your foot, a spacer for your mid-section, & an extension for your drive shaft. MJ's suggestion bout finding a blown 130/150 and putting your powerhead on might bet the path of least resistance..

Tye extra 5" that you need for the longer lower unit is in the mid section, the longer shaft goes in and you are all set. The extencion kit will have a 5" spacer that matches the motor to fix this.

If you get a 25" lower unit you will have the shaft and stuff but still will be short in the mid section, and this is why you will need the whole motor and replace with your power head.

Thanks cfelton!!...if you like seeing a dream come true, the pic below was my 1st V-20 dreamboat ...gonna be hard parting w/the old girl, but the time has come...

Reel, I know how you feel. I couldn't imagine selling my V after all the time I've spent rebuilding it and all the fun I've had with it. But it looks like you've made a good move. You got yourself a 21 year newer boat and you can dress it out any way you want. Have fun!!
