Not Happy Labor Day

I was just reading about how strong it was when it hit CUBA. I feel for you guys in that area of the gulf. This one looks like it will outdo KATRINA as far as power and rain. It's been raining where I'm at most of the day from it.

And Hanna has just been out ther dawdling around with no definate course. Now they seem to have have up her mind.

Down in Miami we're being hammered by Gustav with heavy rain and wind gusts of about 25-30mph and it looks like some of the same as Hanna makes its way up the east coast in the next few days. At this point, anything goes, so we're getting ready for possible hit.

My friend and are tec guy for this site Valiant lives in Gulf Port, and was here at my house the last time, but he is there this time and hoping for the best!
He was to go on vacation this weekend but he works in TV and was told all hands on deck and they started 24 hour coverage of the storm last night.

yep gus is going to strike right in the area where i live and work. i evacuated to mississippi and boarded up the house. they are still saying its going to hit at a 4.

Hate to hear this happening again so soon after Katrina.
Last night around midnight it was up to 150mph, at least it isn't as strong (yet) as they predicted.
Good luck ya'll.

if ya;ll want some live video of where the eye will probably pass. this is the local tv station's web-site. they also have streaming video. its about 1/4 from where i work and where i have my boat stored. they usually have some good footage.

All went fine here....never lost power for more than about 2 minutes at a time and Id barely call what we got a T-storm. Prolly 30-40mph tops from time to time, but barely drizzled for a couple days is it. Hope all is well with my neighbors to the west.

Glad you made out okay Stinky. I heard from my brother just west of you a little bit and he said they didn't suffer too much damage either. His wife and daughter went to LA to stay with some friends, but he stayed to take care of the critters ( dog, cat and one horse).

:you:No thanks bradford, one year camping at Wassaw I had the pleasure returning after a storm snuck up on us with 8-12ft seas. In Ossabaw sound it was 6-9. My brother and brother in-law haven't been back since.

bc, there have been several but scattered out in about 30 year spans.
The most recent was David in 79, 90mph winds, basically a piss ant. About 1/4 of Savannah was without power for 10 days.
The worst one was 1893, modern classification was a cat4.
One that is always brought up was 1898 when a small storm passed over Tybee, most of the island was underwater. This one had almost no warning.
The most curious was the one in 1947, the government tried cloud seeding with dry ice in order to dissipate it. Well it changed direction immediately and came ashore, they haven't tried that again.

Now they are predicting 104mph Friday morning and to come ashore about at Charleston SC late Friday night. bc, yall need to be watching too! Hope the eastern seaboard had a good Labor Day caues this weekend is out as far as boating weather.
Oh and not to run out of stuff, there is another one pokeing it's head out. Basically so far following the same tract.

The 2AM Sunday prediction is 104mph.
