Your Friend Macojoe aka Mj

Hello Everyone,

Last week I received a call from the nursing home that MJ is not doing well. This week I have brought all of his grandchildren to visit, notified family and some of his very close friends. Yesterday morning his health care proxy was invoked (Me) and we headed back to the nursing home. Macojoe's lucid moments are becoming fewer and fewer. Most of the day he is unresponsive with a few short bursts of energy to be able to call me and say hi.

Yesterday the grandchildren visited him for what is to be the last time (as I do not want them to see him worse) and after speaking with his nursing home, I have given the okay to begin comfort care and put a DNR in place.

I am not sure how much more time MJ will have with us but I want all of you to know that your friendships and brotherhood all these years will never be forgotten.

As I kid I'd help my father with the t shirt organizing for delivery, laugh at the jokes on the sites, be jealous of some of the get togethers he got to go to. Always begging to tag along to fishing shows, viewing pictures etc. He was suppose to teach my children how to fish but we have put it off for years due to his health. My twins birthday is in August and we will be getting them their first rods with a remembrance of Papa on them.

I cannot thank this group enough for all that they have done for MJ and my family.

Macojoe's final wishes are to be cremated with no services. And at a later day have his ashes spread by boat at his favorite fishing spot. We have not discussed a date but I believe next summer we are going to do our own send off which we will invite everyone to.

We have gathered his outfit for heaven which includes a wellcraft v20 hat, shirt and sweatshirt.

He will be all set for fishing in heaven.

Again, I cannot thank all of you enough for the love, support and friendship you have given my father all these years.

I will be in touch as soon as I can.

If anyone wishes to contact me, please message me.

Sincerely,

ScupGirl

Living on the left coast, I never met him in person, but I certainly considered him a friend. I appreciated his sense of humor and how “junk yard dog” protective he was of the site and our community.

My daughter got my V-20 for me, not running and needing quite a bit of TLC, so I joined the site and, like lots of us, asked for advice. MJ was the first to respond with “get rid of it - it’ll cost you money and time”. He cracked me up.

Then some guy got out of line with his posts and he worked him over, giving him a chance to straighten up before kicking him off.

My prayers are with him and your family and I really appreciate you keeping us informed about our friend. Like me, he’s very lucky to have a caring, loving daughter. Thank you again.
