wreck anchors for sale

wreck anchors homemade easy project

Im back to making wreck anchors again. They are made from 1/2 round stock. I can make it 3/8 or 3/4 round stock if you prefer for a bigger or smaller vessel. The stem length on these anchors is 18 inches but I can make them a little longer if preferred also. Spread the word around fellas.

Kracker.....let's see some pics when you have time. This is something I'm definitely interested in.

No problem Blue, I'm thinking of switching over to re-bar instead of round stock. These anchors are 2 part primed and painted. I use to cold galvanized them But the finish didn't hold up as long.

x2. I lost mine last year. Rope got caught in prop and while I was trying to untangle it (we were now anchored stern first by the outboard) a wave washed over into the boat. So I cut it before anything worse happened.

I've lost probally 20 in my life!!! So I started making them like 3 years ago. They became kinda popular here locally for a while. I will take a pic of the one on the albemarle. I run 8
foot of chain and 8 foot of garden hose above the chain for chaffing purposes. I've broke off many anchors because the anchor rope was cut above the chain because wear on the wreck so I started using garden hose for a sleeve.

I know losing anchors is part of fishing. But I had that wreck anchor for 8 years. Probably hooked over 800 times with it. But it only takes one incompetent person to let slack in the line and let it get wound up in the prop.

Here's on I made a couple years ago for the 24ft Albemarle and it works beautiful. 1/2 inch stock with a 18 inch stem with 5 bends instead of a kinda standard 4. I find your hook ratio is a lot better with 5 hooks.

Just finding this thread again with your updated pic. That is one nice looking anchor man. Very nice to be exact. You ever make one with an eye up on the end for the "easy-out" zip tie setup, or do you find it works just as well as is? Love the garden hose idea also.

*****EDIT****** Never mind.... I see it now! DOH!

When I fisrt started fishing the wrecks with a friend years ago we had lost a couple of hooks & an anchor & my partner didn't seem upset at all. Strange, since he was a cheapskate! Then about the fourth time we went out, he grabbed a tank & mask & jumped in (70 feet). I was a bit concerned after he was down there 15 or so minutes & I lost his bubble trail. He came back up, said there were plenty of snapper & grouper down there & we kept fishing.

At the end of the day, I went forward to pull the anchor and DAMN! was that thing heavy, as I got to the chain I saw lines tied to it, the whole time my buddy is just snickering away.

Had to tie it off & bring them up one at a time, he had gathered 3 wreck hooks & two anchors & tied them all to our rode!!

I still have one of those anchors & that was 25 years ago!

Very cool story. One time we had similiar incident happen to us fishing the TIGER wreck here out of va beach. A private boat pulled up late one morning and we were tied up on the wreck and he was very polite and asked us if he could dive it and we said of course. In return he tied a couple wreck anchors off on our hook. He told us he had done it. I couldn't imagine the lead down there on them wrecks. And the dummys that drop a danforth on top of wrecks.

And by the way I put this forsale add up before I knew the forum rules so MJ I'm sorry for putting a forsale add on here without permission or sponsorship I will change the title.
