Working on the bow rail

I was going to Durabak the deck and cuddy deck but the weather won't get right, so I chopped the rail. I wanted the whole thing off but still love having the rods up there so...........................

take it off!!
take it all off!!!
Sorry, having flashbacks from the tittybar.
Try it a while and see if you really like it, nobody's gonna be up there riding around anyway.

I'll have to agree with taking the whole thing off and I was not at a titty bar last night.

hey I see you have an 1984 which has rail fittings at each connection point. I have a 1986 and the bow rail is welded at the joints. With the ever present demand to save money I'm surprised Wellcraft went from fittings to welded rather than the other way around???

Good Point

I love the look and lines of the V20 cuddy when it is topless. I had a guy tell me it looked like a baby Bertram, but I fear this 90 degree rail I have put together messes up the lines all together.

Oh well, I really like having all my rods riding up front and I can tilt one rod holder and make it easier trolling for kings by myself.

long reach?

I am thinking about putting rod holders in that same spot. How is the reach to get the rods out? I was trying to mock it up in my boat before buying the rail mount holders and it seemed a little long. But I desperately need more vertical rod storage

I have both (v-20 inbd/outbd & outbd with 200hp merc) on my inbd/outbd I added rocket launchers across the stern (port to stbd) but I'm thinking of manufacturing a set of rocket launchers that would run aft to fwd and be secured in the rod holders on the gunnells. I'm doing the calc's to see if making them out of bow rails would hold if you had 3+ fish on them weighing 125lbs total.
