Winter Largemouth

On Tuesday my buddy Dave and I decided to skip work and make good use of the 60 degree day. We went to Belews Lake which is a Duke Energy lake used to supply water for a steam power plant.

The water at the ramp when we put in was 39 degrees but at the "hot hole" where the water is discharged from the steam plant, it was 67 degrees in the middle of the day.

We ended up catching 14 largemouth bass, including two 3 pounders and several between 2 and 3 pounds. It was a great day!

You can see a fair amount of snow (for around here) still on the ground in some of the pics, usually our snow is gone in a day or so.

It has been real nice the last few days here...but I didn't get to go back and catch any more.

But another buddy of mine and his son went to the same place today, they caught 7 in just a couple hours.
