Where is your transducer mounted?

My fishfinder works well up to about 20mph after that it fails to read the depth. Where is the best transom location for the transducer?

I wanted to install mine on the first chine but the live well high speed water pick up is right in front of it.

I installed mine on the second chine, I can read and mark fish at 40mph on the lake.

Bottom of boat in the water!! Gee got to tell you guys everything! :-/

I will have to ck tomorrow, But I think its near the 2nd chine, I am good to 20 mph then its off and on.

The problem is I have seen many other units that read regardless of speed. The fishfinder on my last bost never lost its signal. I'm starting to think that with all the chines and the deep v maybe its impossible to get a reading above 25mph.

this is where the transducer was located when i got the boat and it read at all speeds. i changed bottom machines (same brand & model) and the new one will only read up to about 20 mph with the same transducer.

I put mine about where the PVC pickup is in phatdaddy's pic and I'm good to 25mph then on and off. :-/ Marking fish at 40 is great but I can never get enough lead on the line to keep the bait in the water ;D

Mine is mounted where Phats is, it works to 40 mph, maybe higher if I repower (NOT!) You can do a search on "transducer mounting" on Google and find several different manufacturers instructions. You may be able to adjust your transducer to work better.

But I gotta say, if you are going over 25, you should be watching in front of you instead of at the DF. :)

Mine is mounted like Phats only on the other side of the left side
of the transom.
The only time mine goes haywire, is when I take a tight turn and almost put the V on it's side.

Then I get a reading of 200 feet, when I am in 4 feet of water and it shows huge fish in big schools.

;D ;D I like that!!!

The sulution is to buy a real Xducer, you know... one that actually reads fish :D

Mine is mounted like the one phats pic and I can hold the bottom to around 30 or so MPH. What kind of FF do you have and does it say anything in the mannual about this.
