I’m in the process of changing out my steering cable. Any pictures on what you did? Don’t really want to pull the motor. ThanksSuccess
I put a round stick in the trim tube moved it to the side of the well and marked it...drilled a 13/8" hole next to the existing whole.. installed the cable into the tilt tube NO PROBLEM..I picked up a new 3" rubber boot will install right next to the existing boot..will look fine and didn't have to touch the motor..TY for the replies..

That’s gonna be hard to do w the transom bulkhead coming straight up out of the splashwell…MAYBE if you can disconnect it from the helm first, then pull the cable back into the bulkheadI’ve replace mine 3 or 4 times since i have owned this V. Previous owner had cut a hole on the edge of the original hole to allow the ram to align with the tilt tube.

This is what it looks like on the outside.
When i went to the 4S 10 years ago the dealer had to install the new style rigging tube, so they cut the hole out and made the starboard plate
When u replace, i would replace the helm also and go with the NFB.
Hope this helps
