redfish chaser

We have a whole week of mild weather thru next week end. I may get to go and chase some reds.:news: Of course going fishing will delay my v20 project a little but the waters callin and she is not ready to go yet. So I will be riding on aluminum. Will post some pics if I catch a few.

Good luck.....its starting to feel that way around here too but its too soon to get too optimistic. I do think I am going to drag the boat down to the water this weekend though. Supposed to be in the mid 50's and I being that I am heading down to SC in a months time I really dont want to pull her out hibernation and blow out the cob webs after a 700 mile drive.

long trip

Wow, 700 miles, what a drag! Glad I don't have to go that far. How much fishing time do you get to compensate for such a long trip? A long trip to fish over here is about a 3 hour ride, and that gets you to a place called Grand Isle, LA. There you can fish marlin, snapper and other offshore fish (50 miles in the boat) in the morning and reds and specks in the afternoon (4 miles in the boat). Flounder gig on the beach at night (100 feet on your feet) and party till you drop. My short drag is 1 minute, a back down ramp that lets me access Vermillion Bay and The Gulf of Mexico is in my back yard.

thanks for rubbing it in.....the long tow is more for a social event than fishing.....it would have to be some pretty damn special fishing to tow that far just to wet a line.....we actually have some pretty great fishing right here off the coast of NJ but in the middle of winter , although you could catch some cod its not my cup of tea being out 30 miles in a 20' boat when its 20 degrees outside.

this was our weather today, highs mid 70's, lows mid 50's. water temp low 60's

come on summer.......

That's a great pic Phat, nice and calm, mild temps and 60 deg. water. those kind of conditions here would have the reds trying to pull the rod out your hand. I did not get to go like I wanted too. Too many things left dragging that needed attention. Ya'll know the feeling. But that just makes the time spent out on the water that much more deserved and enjoyable.

that shot was just inside the pass in panama city, with the water temp in the low 60's, trout & reds are up in the creeks and the salty species are out in the gulf where the water temps are in the low 70's, high 60's. i soaked a shrimp for 1 hour and not a taker.

theraputic value

Sorry you did not get any takers Phat, guess you have to put the value for that day in the soft breeze, calm waters and general relaxed free feeling of being on the water. And you was obviously on board your V20. You had almost everything you could ask for.:nice:
