My good friend just bought a 35' Viking in CT. He is a big fan of the V 20 and he is the reason I purchased one. (he actually owns my old V). We brought the Viking home to New Bedford from Westbrook CT on Monday 11-16. What a beautiful boat with a great ride.

The Viking has 375hp 3208 cats w/twin disc trans.
We were crusing along about 22 mph. I thought the Viking might be a little faster then that. We have 300hp 3208 cats in our Bertram and cruise at 18-20 mph. Not sure what the Viking fuel burn is. Our Bertram is right at 1.0 mpg with the genny running. Not to bad for a 25k pound boat that is running old style mechanical diesels.

Viking is sure pretty inside. Our Bertram even with all the ungrades we did over last winter isn't anywhere as nicely finished inside.

The Bertram got some need attention last winter. We installed new flooring and painted walls/cabinets and new S/S frig. Also new port windows in V berth and new cushions/covers and replaced V berth wall with vinyl with bubble insulation backing to keep moisture down. The old carpet was NASTY! Couple of pics from last winters projects.

Big boats are fun but I still love my V20. Driving a 35' Sportfisher is like driving a camper.Great fun once you get some place because you have all the comforts of home but driving a V 20 is like a sports car.

Very true Joe.
When we purchased the boat the previous owner had photos of bill fish being caught/landed on our Bertram (White Marlin?). The Bertram was made for fishing. The cockpit is huge. The cockpit is almost as big as dock buddy's 48 Ocean. I'm still finding fishing stuff. I have no idea what the stuff is called. One of the rigs/jigs had a spreader bar with what look like fake squid. Has something to do with the outriggers etc. I'm assuming it would be for tuna?

I can see why the big center console are taking over the offshore fishing.
Fast, reliable and easy to clean.

The big sportfishers are floating condos but they are pretty comfy when the fish aren't biting.
