Volvo I/O aq130c and 270 drive.

Get rid of it and stuff a Mercruiser into it. ;D

Hi Tim. ;D J/K of course. No exp with Volvo's 'cept for a car we once owned. ::)

I think the motor is porked. There is a little water in the oil. The outdrive is pretty tight and gear oil is clean. Gonna get a new head gasket and a manual and see if we can get this thing to go!!!

The 270 is a bad a$$ drive, just check the bellows. Never had an issue with my Volvo drive. You can also swap a lower unit off a duo prop right on to the drive. I think you can also change the bellhousing and go to a GM small block engine with a little work.

The 270 Volvo is a tough drive and yes you can change the bellhousing and go with Ford are GM blocks another good thing about Volvo the sea water pump is on the front of the motor easy to change on the water the 130’s did have a history of heads cracking good luck getting her up and running

Thanks Guys - I've never played with one of these i/o's before . . . I kind of like them. The guy claims to have gotten 4.5mpg with this setup. The space is limited (narrow) Franco or v20twin any ideas how wide the small block is?

The width of a small block GM is about 28"----on another note if you are going to change the oil in that drive it takes 40W motor oil

Just bought the same setup inside a donor boat. $300 . . . Yeah baby!!

2 - 270 outdrives and an aq130C with working steering and controls.
Started it up today and it purrs . . . 120psi in all 4.
3 anchors, life jackets, teak swim platform, working single axle trailer.

All I have to do is dump the boat!! Boat looks like hell!! Motor is very nice.

yeah, BS...wouldn't wanna stuff a wave in that baby...you'd be stuffin' YOURSELF :o ...

Hey!!...is the windshield on that puppy V-20-able??... ??? Several here would probably want it if it is... ;)...

Guys - there is a guy selling a Mercruiser 302 188hp w/888 Mercruiser outdrive complete with controls and trim/tilt pump. I took measurements and it will fit into the boat. I also found someone that would take that other boat and make it almost an even swap. I'm worried about fuel economy with the 302 b/c the boat only has a 38 gallon tank. Any ideas what kind of fuel economy one might expect with a 302 pushing a boat similar to the v20 ?
