Various Repairs

Drain plug hole was in bad shape and allowed water past the outside of the tube into the wood...hogged out the old to accept a new garboard style plug...

Had a slightly used (11 yrs on the old '74) gas cap in storage and picked up a new vent fitting...vent was gone and old gas cap was shot...all new hoses, fill and vent in place to tank...

Speaking of new hoses...filler hose $10 per foot...took 7'...man that's some rough stuff...new ground wire and terminals from tank to filler cap, too...and new ground wire from rear of tank to neg battery post...

Rod boxes...removed the teak trim, repaired the broken edges and cut opening to fit the whole length of the box...then just screwed 'em on...it'll do for now...had some starboard racks never used from long ago...old teak ones now gone...

In the bilge...actually cleaned up pretty good w/pressure hose...new hoses between bigger, oversized cockpit drains...no 90* elbows to slow the flow...runs straight out now thru larger opening...

Some very good progress being made there. I'm jealous. Ours are mostly covered for the season up here. Well, they are for me and MJ anyways (couple old handicap guys ya know).

You two guys will spend the off season dreamin and schemin on the fine tunin' you'll do soon as you can jerk the covers off...then in the Spring, come back strong and the fishes up there won't stand a chance!!...

Hey, How did my dog get there?

Looking great!!! (even though the gas cap is upside down)

Not sure if I will be able to get out again either due to honey lists:bat: and football.

Hey, did I miss the memo about rerouting the scuppers through the liner instead of the floor? I cant say I recall that modification being done before....Is that REELAPATENT PENDING?

LOL!!...didn't get a chance to send out that memo!!...when I got 'er back home, I realized the drains were holding water...cleaned 'em out good and noticed the 90* elbows were still holding water, cuz from there the hose had to go UP to the thru-hull and out...just figured this would be a more efficient way to evacuate the water...those are 1 1/2" hoses and fittings...and yep...patent pending!!...:sun:

I kidnapped your dog and phoned in honey-do items to keep ya busy!!...LOL!!

Oh and take another look at the gas cap...notice what's "above" it in the pic...so lookin' at it from the ground, it's right-side up...or else I wouldn't know where to put the freakin' gas...:head:

Lookin' Good Reel. That is one clean bilge for not being repainted. Have you considered maybe doubling up on the hose clamps on the scuppers? Hate to have one fail.

If they were below the water line, I'd have already done that...and been much more reluctant to install plastic fittings...but not a bad idea here...thanks for the suggestion!!...

And as for the gas, there's always plenty of that...just wish it was the kind you could burn in the motor...phew....:cen:

I will have to take a look at my deck drains too:head:. Mine always get clogged at the 90. Looks good.

Don't know how long Wellcraft used these particular drains, but they were made to get CLOGGED...small in diameter w/an X-shaped strainer about an inch or so down in the fitting w/the 90* turn just under that...OK for draining pure water, but turns out it's not a perfect world and other sh!t finds its way in there....
