Has anyone weighted their boat, trailer, gear and a full load of gas? Did mine today,it weighed 4,950 lbs. My tow vehicle is a 94 Ford Ranger 4x4, 4.0 V-6, 3.73 rears, towing capicity of 5,800 lbs. Truck has 186,000 miles and does allright towing in flat N.J. wouldn't want to push it up more hilly terain to often. What are some of your weights and types of tow vehicles? Crusher
 
My boat weighed in at 4700, I tow it with a 4x4 '98 Chevy 1500 Pick up, 5.0 liter V8 automatic. When I bought the boat I towed it from Kansas to Central VA. The truck did great out west but in West Virginia we had slow going through the mountains, top speed about 45 going up the main slopes. Coming down was the scary part, single axle w/o brakes, used low gear and lots of prayer
 
one advantage of the older hulls is less weight due to no liner...w/70 gals fuel, heavy tandem trailer mine's 4600lbs. few years ago, added tie-down disc brakes on all 4 wheels and tow w/01 ford f-150 crew-cab w/5.4 litre motor...good stiff suspension lots of power, but of course will lose mph on steep hills of south carolina...installed goodyear marathon radials last year...i swear this trailer rolls down the road easier!

if i had the brakes to do over again, i'd look at kodiak...i think they make a heavier duty system
 
Thanks for the come back next year I have to weigh the empty trailer to get correct boat weight? I too have to replace the tires on my trailer (single axle) and am going from bias to radial. Have also read good things about the Goodyears. Crusher
 
4288# Last summer. That was with a half tank of gas I believe. Maybe the less weight is attributed to the center console? Or, it just means I need more fishing equipment. ;D Single axle E-Z Loader trailer. No brakes. Pulling with a '95 Dodge Ram 4x4 Pickup with a 5.9L. No problems really to speak of. Tows fairly well.
