Up The Ditch

While visiting Mr Krink...uh Lee...we decided to take a V20 ride...little did I know I would wind up in a place I read about in books and saw on history TV shows...

Anyway, Capt Krin...Lee guides me down to the Byrum Boating Facility (aptly named after the guy who donated it to the Byrum Compound)

Clearly he's got this thing worked out...walk out, flip a switch, splash the V

As we pull away from the Byrum Estate (seen in background), Lee studies the waterway ahead with the intensity of a dog after a meaty bone...

The big 350 roars to life and off we go...

The big 350 scoots us quickly across open water and up the ditch...

Instant isolation...from civilization to backwater isolation of this stretch of the ICW...

Then Dismal Swamp...Martha's Ditch...hand dug by slaves under the direction of Geo Washington...

And so full of swarming Yellow Flies, we didn't stick around for the history lesson...

We blasted on by big boy and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon...If you've never been on the water ways in the Elizabeth City area, try it some time..lots more to do than just Dismal Swamp...oh and be sure to look out for the blue topped V20 I/O...Capt's too much fun to be around!!...:fam:

Glad you got to see some history around here. I can't wait to go your way and see some of your landscape.

We did have a fun time, shame it had to end.

Good fun, boat time and Willy's hootch.

Great Pics! I need ta get over there myself. I've always wanted to put the V in here at Cannons Ferry boat landing and run all the way to Oregon Inlet. I think it would be a nice ride. Just not sure where I could get gas along the way.

Ahh, living the dream there buddy. That V looks like it has a hard time fighting that windsock in the second picture.. No problem getting on plane, wow. You been holding out on us GarageNC.

Yea, it's OK. So you got a sweet Lady, a direct input into a sweet waterway, a nice good running V, great crabs, good fishing, and a reported stash from some northern fellow in the freezer and a thrill for life.
So what!
You got it made my friend.
Not bad for an Old Geezer I say.
