Transom issues

Took my ‘94 V21 to boat yard today to see about some wiring issues. As he walked around to get on the boat, he looked at the transom and immediately got pretty concerned with how it looked. (Photos attached). That changed how the whole conversation went. We trimmed motor down and he stood and bounced on the motor to see if any play. There was a minuscule amount of movement, if any, and most of the movement was the boat as a whole. He told me to reach out to different company about having it fixed. Wanted to reach out on here first and get y’all’s opinion. I’ve searched transom repairs on here and have read a good portion of them. Just wanted to bring this back up and see what my next steps should be. I appreciate any feedback.

Given that it’s a V21, that would probably be a very tricky one to do. Not really sure how they built it at the factory. Hopefully some of the 21 crew will shed more light. I remember Destroyer (I think) had to add a brace or stiffen his up at one time.

Gotta remember these are at least 35 year old mid tier production boats that were probably built to last 10-15 years at best. I’m sure mine has some soggy wood somewhere. If they would have just smeared some resin inside the limber holes in the stringers and sealed the joint on the transom the cap sits on it, they would have saved us a lot of repairs.

Take a plastic handle screw driver and tap on the transom with the handle all around it. If it sounds hollow, you may have issues. Check.all around the engine mounting holes. You tap.around it enough, you'll figure out the change in sounds

As I tap on the transom close to the motor holes it sounds solid (both sides), as I venture further out it sounds more hollow

Personally I think if anyone stood on the motor and bounce up and down the transom would flex , if it didn’t it would crack
Bridges bounce up and down and move all the time. Me? I would leave it alone and go fishing. I don’t know why wellcraft put on those aluminum caps on the transom. Stupidest thing ever
