Torsion bar axle?

My son has a broken torsion hub attached to the axle he got a price for the axle. But the hub is the thing that is broke. Can you replace just the wheel hub or do you have to replace the whole axle? I’m sure that I and maybe a bunch of us will be in that situation.

The hub is the part that the tire and rim bolts to, it is replaceable. Some models have a replaceable axle, the part the hub slides on. The drop arm and bands are not serviceable.

a torsion axel has four main parts, the axle itself, the swing arm, the spindle and the hub. Hubs are easily replaceable, but make sure the axle itself is not rusted or bent and make sure the spindle the hub rides on isn't chewed up

I’m going to check it out myself
My son said it’s not replaceable on his trailer , but I can’t believe it’s not replaceable. Thanks for replying. I’m go8ng to look myself. Thanks

look close at the middle of the axle where it dips down, take a hammer and smack it pretty good, if you can dent it, its rusted thru

Mines an old FloatOn tandem w torsion bar axles. Looks like the torsion rods are welded into the swing arms, so I guess I could cut one of the swing arms off and pull it out the other side…then replace torsion rods and both swing arms, but I sure don’t know that…might not be doable at all

Not doable, we tried a couple years ago, takes a special press to do it

that's not bad, trailer parts have gone way up. I bought one thru my trailer guy last spring and my price was $600 for a #3500 with hubs, no brakes. Add in a couple hours of labor and misc hardware, you're sitting at $900 before you know it

Point taken Spare. I’ve had a torsion trailer for over 25 years, on my fourth set of axels. Get about 6-8 years out of a set. No brakes on mine and I DO wash them every time. Doesn’t seem to help.
