Going to meet the guy Wed morning, what you guys think?? Any thing I should look for?? The guy seemed nice and says they are the original owners and have taken good care of it and all its oil changes and stuff, never been off road with it and has just towed a utility trailer for yard work. We shall see. As you can see I don't mess around like charlie when looking for something!!LOL

My wife has one. we have 160,000 on it. EXCELLENT truck.

NEVER use the AUTO 4WD. They pop in and out of four wheel, and bends the fork in the transfer case.

There is an intermediate steering shaft on these trucks that are noisy, tend to rattle when going over bumpy roads. ive been told that it does not cause any issues, and I have not had any.

front bearings go out at 125-150000 - easy replacement - took me an hour for two. only needed one special socket - 37mm i think.

those are the only two problems we've had. (other than her hitting things and the kids beating the crap out of the interior - oh well)

looks like a great price...those are still going for 8-10k here.

good luck.

Only things I can think of are the basic checks. At that milage a water pump may be needed, as well as an alternator. Also check it for a hot restart condition. After you get it up to temp shut it off, the nabout 5 minutes later restart it and see if it starts smoothly or if it has a delayed sluggish restart. fuel pressure regulators are notorious for failing on the early engines, and cause all kinds of idle problems and a poor hot restart. Fairly cheap part(under $40 for the last one I got), and takes about 10 minutes to change it including getting your tools out.

I had the 02 truck version, they had a recall on the steering shaft, as for the hub assembly I did them on that also, he says he has just did them on this one, so should be good. I had to have mine hubs in my 2008 at 32,000 miles!! It was under warr. A friend of mine bought my 02 from me a few years ago and it is still going strong at 230,000.

Thanks therm, I have never had that problem but i saw a recall on my 08 that sounds like what you are saying, they say if you have the problem they will fix and that you should have under 100,000 miles if your over that you are ok.
