This is the same bar I cross 15+ times a year---these guys are headed for the bad water of course---but sure feels great to know they train like this to Bail us out if things go wrong!
Well worth the watch. This is filmed out of Ilwaco(columbia river bar) otherwise know as the Graveyard of the Pacific. Enjoy.

Love the shot where they roll the boat over. Those boats are specially ballasted so they will self-right if flipped. Take a good look at each person standing and you'll see they have two straps (one on each side)
going from their waist to padeyes in the deck. Each person is strapped in so they won't get tossed overboard. The helmsman wears a seat belt for the same reason. One of the first lessons they are taught is they must trust their equipment... so they deliberately roll the boats as part of the training. My hat is off to each and every one of them... looks like fun, but really they are learning how to put their lives on the line so we don't loose ours. God bless them each and every one.

Might make the near perfect fishing boat - no worries about wet cuddy, lost equipment, ability to fish in rough seas etc etc !!!

The problem with fishing from there---is their deck height---nothing low to the water for sure---But we have watched them fishing out at the CR Bouy(18 miles out) for Salmon--I bet their rear deck is 6 feet up.

And these 47 rollovers are fast--I am told that they will run almost 40 knots wide open.
