The Greatest Generation

Recently my uncle; the last surviving sibling of my mother, passed away leaving grandchildren, son and his wife of almost 60 years..and many of us "young ones" who grew up admiring this guy and what he made of himself. The only one in his family to graduate from college, went to work for DuPont at The Savannah River Nuclear Plant as a Mechanical Engineer...and was a pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

I am incredibly proud to have known him, be closely related to him and hope for you there was somebody in your life equally respected

Nice sentiment there Reel. Sorry for your loss. That is how I felt about my Uncle Don that we lost last year. Glad to have known the man.

Sorry to lose another one of the few left. My condolences to his loved ones.
In answer to your comment my Dad was that WWII Hero for me, lost him two weeks before my 17th birthday.
Like you, I will never forget, and I will be with him in due time.

God bless him Reel.

You helped me connect with a Greatest Generation relative that I never knew and I am in your debt. I can only pay it back in prayers.

I truley hope that we a worthy to walk among these giants one day.

Sorry for your loss Reel. My dad was my hero, served in WWII in a submarine. Had metal in his face and chest, only thing he would ever tell me about it was he saw his best friend blown to pieces right beside him. He was a great man, lost him in 1980 when I was 20 years old. Still miss him bad and always will!
