convert trailer for step v

I hava a 79 step v 20', with a rusted out trailer. I got a deal on another trailer that had a 20' Ranger on it at one time. My boat is kept in Destin, Fl and I live in Memphis, Tn. My problem is that I need some kind of specs to convert the trailer for a deep V hull. I plan on raising the bunks and getting them somewhat close and then adjust it when I get to Fl. Any suggustions or help would be appreciated

Not much can be done till ya get the trailer close to the boat and take some measurements. Bring a floor jack, wood, tools, tape measure and your credit card. The Ships Chandeleur in Destin and Auer Marine in Ft.Walton have trailer parts in case ya need to add some brackets and such. Hope it works out for ya.

I'm afraid Dan is right. Take measurements of your rusted out trailer bunk locations, distance from winch to end of bunks, dist. b/t bunks, height of winch, etc. and try to set up the other trailer the same, or at least close. Of course this assumes the boat fit well on the rusty trailer.....

You wouldn't have to have your V, all V's are basically the same, maybe you can find one nearby to measure or compare? I'm afraid I'm much closer to your boat than you so I'm no help.

Any volunteers??

PS, a ranger is a MUCH lighter boat, make sure the axle, springs & frame can take the load. our V20's are heavy old school beasts.

bill, i've got an 83 on a bunk style aluminum trailer, i could take some measurements of the bunk height ,length, & width, kinda get you in the ball park. let me know if it would help

Trailer bunker measurements

PHATDADDY, Thanks for the comeback. A few measurements would sure help. I plan on using the adjustable bolster brackets, as shown in Overtons cat., and once I transfer the boat, I can jack it up and make final adj.

the bunks are 50" apart and 11.5" above the horizonal frame member in the pic
the bunks are 2x10 rough cut cypress with a bevel at the top
