Taxes

I didn't read it all, couldn't take anymore after reading about his increase in taxes on the top 1%. OBAMA is an IDIOT if he actually thinks this will help ANYBODY! That top 15 will simpl raise the costs on there products and then pass it on to those who are getting the supposed tax cuts. The problem isn't solely who is paying the taxes, but the MAIN issue is where our POS GOOBERMENT is spending our taxes(and for what). Why don't we start eliminating some useless government employees not pulling there weight? Maybe set some quotas on government employees to get work actually acomplished instead of standing around making government job jokes. How about end these welfare families? I realize some people need help and I am all for helping those in need, but a large number of them simply just don't want to earn there way.

I'll regress now before I blow a gasket thinking about what our once great nation has dwindled down too.

I understand Ferm. Its just one piece of the pie. Once you get all your pieces together you'll have your candidate. Billy Mac

I agree with you Ferm, hitting the top 15 is not going to solve anything. And my wife and I are well below the $250,000 mark....as well as the $150,000 mark for that matter.

Quote Ferm,"The problem isn't solely who is paying the taxes, but the MAIN issue is where our POS GOOBERMENT is spending our taxes(and for what). Why don't we start eliminating some useless government employees not pulling there weight?"

I agree with this also. Governor Donald L. Carcieri is trying to get this done in Rhode Island and it ain't easy. Unions just don't allow it to happen, at least in this state. Guess that's what they are there for but in the end it cost all of us, on both the municipal, state and federal levels.

From everything I see, it appears that OBama plans would create more government jobs and spending and that is gong to cost "us".

Did anyone read the comments at the end of teh story?

It just proves something that my mom used to say,
"opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one".

My opinion, I wish that there would be a person running that does not sling mud,
just a straight shooter that tells the truth and does not put spin
on anything that they say.
Here's my 50 cent word for the day,
OXYMORON - Honest politician.

The federal government has grown horribly way to big and powerful, it has done this by fostering a society that has a large percentage of its members that depend on it for living and have expectations of being taken care of by it.
This is not by accident, this is a concious decision to pursue something different than the America that was born of strong independent people.
Obama and his intelligencia is the culmination of many years of pursuing this socialist agenda, they have never been happy with the United States and how it was designed. They want something run by a minority of progressive left leaning elite who know what is best for all of us.

" A goverment big enough to give you every thing is powerful enough to take away everything"

As a very hard working government employee (trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice), an employee who took a huge pay cut in moving from private practice to the DOJ to do something for my country, I am a bit offended by the comments about good for nothing government employees. Sure, there are some inefficiencies, but I think we could make some immediate progress if we began phasing out our spending of 10 billion $ per month in Iraq, and diverting some of the $ and troops to Afghanistan where they are really needed for national security purposes.

Come'on Nipper don't take this personal, I am a (local) government employee. I believe that I give 100% of myself to my career and that at times it takes time away from my family that I will never get back.

You are more then likely not from the group we are referring to. As you put it you gave up a profitable practice to do what you are doin'. That is very admirable and I thank you.

However, there are plenty of other lawyers and other professionals that could not cut it in the real world and through politics have gotten on the government's payroll. I personally know many or them that are bleeding are system. These are the employees we are referring to, not someone that is actually given of themselves and putting in an honest 40+hr work week.

I apoligize if you took my comments the wrong way. I was not aiming them at all government employees, but rather the ones who have the work ethic of "It's a government job, why work?". There are still quite a few government employees who do a good service, and MOST of the good ones are the underpaid underappreciated ones. Why does a teacher make such SH!TTY wages for molding our future, when we have have people in ALL departments of government working 15 hours a week or less making $300K+ a year? And I have long said that unions will be the downfall of this country. They were established for a very good purpose and were infact needed at one time, but there main purpose has been satisfied so they have found other ways to be needed. If it wasn't for the mess the unions have created, other countries wouldn't be such a large power now since we would still have most all of our plants here instead of abroad. Unfortunately the mess were in trickles down to everybody, but the public is the only ones that can change it.

Sorry for taking it personal, guys. I have to agree that in my limited experience ( I have only been with the feds for 3 years now) yes, there are many government employees, federal, state and local, who do not pull their weight. Just caught me on a bad morning when I was feeling bad from an illness but yet I was still here at work.

Oh, and by the way, Ferm, I agree with you on the unions that they have outlived their noble purpose, and stand firmly in the way of lots of progress in this country.

Do away with the unions and you'll soon be crying to get them back. Because of the unions the life style in the US is what it is. Billy Mac

Most of the people I know have a poor lifestyle now because of unions. The unions have driven the labor costs up so much that employers are outsourcing there work(or hiring illegals to do it). Unions have become like our government, they were once a needed neccesity now they have grown to fierce predators looking for ways to survive. Unions need to be updated for the times to bring our industry back. Why should somebody working on an assembly line doing nothing more than pushing buttons get paid $30 an hour? I have a friend who works maybe half the time he's there, and when he does work it is stuff that kids in shop class could easily do. Yet he makes $28 an hour, and gets double pay for anything over 40 hours courtesy of the TEAMSTERS. And we wonder why our stuff costs more? Our whole system needs a rebuild, starting with morals for many people out there. Most parents are not instilling values anymore and teaching there kids what pride is. Instead they hand them a PLAYSTATION and the internet and let them be raised by that. I hated my upbringing when I was a kid(I know it wasn't that long ago either), but now that I'm older I'm glad I have those values.

Is that why everytime we go into negotitions the non union workers always ask us not to lose this or that. I will agree the pedulum did swing too far in the unions favor but without them where would we be. Maybe working at Wal Fart. Billy Mac
