i was going to reseal my outboard steering cyl, but the shaft was bad. sent to a place in jacksonville fla to have a new shaft installed, but they dont make any longer!! now i am faced with replaceing it with a new one! i have been on the internet all am looking for a deal! most of what i am seeing is 931.00 to 718.!! ouch!!!! does anyone have any sorce. the unit i need is a seastar hc 5342. thanks for your help!!!!!!

I'm guessing he has an OMC since the HC5342 uses that style steering hook-up. I have a HC5345 with a broken steering hook-up arm. i don't know if the shaft is the same or not, but the cylinder itself is almost new and only has the broken off atatchment arm. I would sell it for cheap if you're interested as you may be able to swap the internals over to your cylinder..

hey guys i looked all day on the internet for a new steering cyl. the avg cost was 713.00 to 982.00 finally i found a pre loved unit for 270.00 much better. i should have it by thur so i hope to get the v going soon! thanks
