Spear Fishing Question with pics

I've never been spear fishing, but I'm fairly sure this isn't how it's done.

ya know, it could have been worse, he could be laying on his back with the spear in the front side

I could TOTALLY see that happening on a trip with me and one of my buddys. Injuries have become the norm the past couple months on EVERY trip.

i was working in my shop a month ago and dropped a 48" jbl magnum on my ankle,
shaft(no tip) went 3 inches into my foot .
