Snow!

We're getting some snow here in Gates County N.C. That's the first time I've seen snow here before Christmas in a long time. Its rained for a couple of days so its not sticking but its coming down pretty good!

We went to Charlotte this morning them rode over to Wadesboro for family Christmas get together and saw some light flurry's, nothing too much. My brother in law was up in Sparta and it snowed pretty good up there. Cousin in Walhalla got 3 inches. Nothing but cold rain all the way home

We had a connecting flight in Charlotte on Friday. Luckily we got de-iced and off the ground before anything got to backed-up.

Geeze... you guys get a dusting and act like its the end of the world as we know it. I think all that hot weather you guys get is affecting y'all. :hide:

A dusting down here brings the world to a halt...and the traffic cause some goofball thought he could go wide open in his fancy 4x4 and flipped it over in the road.

I HATED driving in snow in my BURB. Even in 4x4 it still slid all over the place. You can't just drive on a slick road in something that weighs 7K+ without it sliding around. I know most curse ABS, but I was sure glad I had it. I never believed just how quickly you could lose traction on just a little snow by hitting the brakes. My ABS saved me more than once from little cars cutting in front of me.

I'm with you Ferm, iv had many instances to appreciate that ABS system in the snow here in ny. I'm in a 350 ford pickup plowing several 300 ft long buss parking lots with a couple hundred busses backed in side by side 50/60 deep.. I'd be in trouble without that Abs!!

I had an 84 Ramcharger 4x4. Went great in snow... just didn't stop! Could not use the brakes in snow unless you wanted a tea cup ride! Had to coast to a stop. In snow, I'll take a front wheel drive, ABS car over that old 4x4. Only thing scarier in snow was my 69 Mustang.

Skunk, I had an 85 Ramcharger and will second your comment about not stopping. That thing was a mule for hauling, but stopping in snow wasn't it's strong suite. I love my Durango with 4x4 or AWD and ABS Hard to beat the combo. :head:

Took my driving test in a 87 Ramcharger with a lift and 35 inch BFG Mud Terrains, couldnt see the cones to parallel park, but still passed. Wish trucks were still built like trucks.

Day of my driving test it was snowing hard. I was the first appointment for that day and it had snowed really hard the previous night, got almost 8 inches of snow.. Couldn't see any of the roads on the test track, everything was covered. Instructor looked over the track to where a road grater was plowing the course, told me to follow him. So I followed him for about 5 minutes, instructor said okay, you passed, go back to the office.. Didn't have to do any turns, parking, nothing.

I miss my 85 RamCharger and my 73 IHC Scout II. Trucks made like trucks. What a shame IHC never learned the meaning of the term "Rustproofing'. Great truck but it eventually rotted out from under me.

My dad has a 76 scout II, been sitting in his barn for around 20 years. I am thinking about restoring it for him. It has a little rust! He has new quarter panels and rockers laying beside it. THat was a tough vehicle, my 3 brothers and I learned how to drive in it.

Yeah those old Ramchargers and old Scouts were tough! I got a 72 FJ40 Land Cruiser with 69000 original miles that still runs good. Got some rust as it spent its first 12 years at Nags Head. I'm the fifth owner, I guess nobody liked the 12 MPG and 70 mph top speed! I can shift it into low lock and it tops out at 20 mph. Its geared LOW! Got a straight six that holds 9 qts of oil and three speed tranny. When you lock in the warn front hubs and shift it in 4WD its all wheel drive, almost unstoppable! I love it!

Cfelton - you LUCKY DOG!!! Have you looked online recently to see what those rigs are selling for? What a great rig - you already have your next 10 Year’s of Christmas presents***128513;

Yeah I looked and that's crazy, guess I'll hang on to mine! It runs great, just needs a body restoration job. My neighbor has a nice body shop, I guess i'll talk to him.

We were not forecasted to get any, but got a couple inches which covered the roads and quickly became sheets of ice. It fell around 6pm, at midnight they had finally started salting the roads...usually they put down brine before we get anything, that really helps, but the weatherman got it wrong again.

The bread and milk consortium is going to be pissed to have missed an opportunity to empty the shelves at every store.

Closest snow to us was Tallahassee, so far. South of I-10 just cold. Wind has been howling for 3 days

Lows in mid 20 s, highs in mid40 s

Brrrrrrrr.....
