Snap-On Tools

After working in the automotive business for 20 years as a Service Advisor / Service Manager, I've decided it's time for me to go to work for myself. I am scheduled next week to sign the papers on a Snap-On tool franchise. Any of you guys heard anything bad about The Snap-On company? Any reason you know of that would make you think twice about doing something like this? It looks like a good idea to me, but I thought I'd see what you guys thought.

I don't know much about the co. itself but Snap-On makes quality tools and they have a good reputation and a proven franchise record. Around here, Matco is S.O.'s only competition, good luck w/ the new venture!

The oly reason I can think of is they no give them to me free!! ;)

Good Luck!! We here at V20.com expect a discount!

Hey Rick, been in the car biz 30+ years. Snap On can be a good gig, just give it a chance to grow, It's gonna take a year or so to make the big bucks. Good luck!!!

Rick,

It sounds like a good thing to me. I work in the maintenance world and would give one piece of advice from negitives I've heard from other tech's. Make time for the little guy, that little place where there's only one or two guys. Just my 2 cents.

I was talking to a retired mechanic I know last night, and brought this up.

He says you can make money, but you have to hit EVERY garage that is in your area!!

Figure out what your costumers want and have it when you go back.

In todays world there are alot of high priced items out there, and most try to do with out. But you should have some available at all times or be able to order and have for them on next visit.

The one thing that was pissing him off the most was he would tell the guy he needed something and would take a month to get it! Or the guy would say he would get it and then skip a week cause he did not have it.

The other thing today is the Gas prices! Then SO trucks are not cheap to run

Rick, I would think your area would be great for a SO franchise...your personal credibility will become your greatest asset ;)...

AS A TECH YOU KNOW THE VALUE AND QUALITY OF A GOOD TOOL, AND SNAP ON OWN THE TITLE OF THE BEST. YOU'LL DO GREAT I'M SURE!
