Well I put her in the water yesterday after waiting in the sun for 3 hrs for the hwy patroll to inspect my trailer and me being a fat guy I couldn't get in the boat.

I sat down on the dock and put my feet on the side of the boat cause it was higer than the dock. My friend Ces was in the boat and grabbed my hands and tried to pull me in and due to the fact that I had 3ft slack in the rope the boat pushed away from the dock with my a$$ hanging off the side of the boat and my head on the edge of the dock lol I manage to get my butt back on the dock, I think GOD was there and helped me at that point, my friend was in tears laughing and I was hoping that nobody had seen that, until some guy walked up saying You almost had it!!

Then I back the suv down to put the boat on and found out I had backed down the wrong side where their was no concrete and got stuck, with the back of my suv under water. what a bad day..... Some nice ppl used a ski rope and pulled me out.

If I had a video of that it would of won me 100,000 on AFV.

I was so tired from all the sun I just left and will try a different way next time.
BUT SHE FLOATS with no leaks so I am happy!!!

feel free to reply and laugh as much as we did

LOL Good story Jdog. Buy yourself a boarding ladder. It hangs over the side of the boat and if you can climb 2-3 steps you can board your boat.
Also, if you ever fall overboard in the water with someone still on the boat and you can't climb the ladder you can always just stand on your outboard (with the engine OFF) and have them raise it up.. then you can crawl into the boat that way also.

Oh, and congrats on her floating!!!:beer:

congrats on her floating!!! Don't feel bad about backing down the ramp into the mud. I had a jeep wrangler one time and I didn't put the parking brake on enough. While I was trying to get my waverunner off the trailer I noticed the jeep slowly going down the ramp. Good thing I noticed right away because when I was able to apply the brakes I had water comming in the doors. LOL.

Like said above dont give up. You learned a few things not to do! Tie the boat up tight and let the rubrail do its job. My fishing buddy has a couple old wooden Simmons we snapper fish on. First time i boarded i stepped down on to the gunnel and grabbed the ttop. The boat rolled over so much i thought it was going to capsize! He started laughing his a$$ off and said everybody new who gets on his boat always get the same OH Sh!TTTTTTTT expression on their face when it rolls. Hang in there. Soon launching and loading will be painless.

Glad you can laugh about it!...falls under the category: Ya gotta start somewhere!!...the learning curve to boating is a long one and frequented by lots of speed bumps!!...but in the end it's all worth it...:nice:

:pic: Rob's right...get that camera thing goin'!!...

welcome to boating jdog
reel, in my case it's not a learning curve, more like a learning circle, i'm starting to do newbie things i did 30 years ago all over again.

Yea the last time I was getting in and out of a boat was about 10 yrs ago when I weighed about 350lbs and it wasn't a issue. I have always wanted my own boat and my brother helped me get this one to help me get more active to loose weight, also I forgot to mention that I am about to have weight loss surgery, the gastric bypass. My current weight is 500lbs and this surgery will change my life and give me back the life I used to have.

So being 500lbs just getting in the boat is a challenge, next time I take her out I will back her down close to the dock and get in the boat while she is still on the trailer so the boat doesnt move lol.

Wow, you are HUGE!!:oh: My Doc will not do the gastric if you are over 400, I was 350 now 176 had my gatro 1 year ago last May.
I have had a few issues but I am getting a little better a day at a time.
I have other issues as I was diabetic for 21 years, and my kidneys are shutting down, have had a few eye surgery's, they will never be the same but i am seeing again!
I wish I had it done before my health got so bad, but the surgery sucked back then. But it has fixed a lot! No more High BP, No more diabetes, no more cholesterol.

Good Luck to ya!

Well I sure pray that you get better. I have had High BP since 2001 and just got high sugar in the last year, so yea it's time for a major change, I just pray that this surgery gives me my life back, as this will be my first surgery I am scared ****less.

Not sure of your age or health, but I went way to long before doing something!! I was 27 when I got diabetes, and I was 48 when I had the operation. I had a Heart attach in 2009 while building my barn.
My brother was 380, and after watching all the problems I had he said Joey I having the opp as I don't want to be like you! He said I hope you are not mad at me for saying that, but I understood!! KI use to build all my own stuff and fix cars and a bunch of things!, But because of the health issues I have lost most use of my hands, and no feelings in my feet and legs, on my boat I don't even tie my own hooks on any more, who ever is with me does it for me. Thank God for my Friends they all understand and have no problems helping me out. I am glad I was able to get him to do something!
I wish you all the luck in the world my friend!!

Well I am 40 I have always been the big fat kid since I was little, it has ruined my life, but I managed to keep active like delivering pizza untill I started my own PC business and that change of lifestyle just sitting around working on computers really put the weight on me. I went from 375 to 566 in like 2 years and ended up with high BP in 2001 since then I have been fighting to loose weight and it took some years but I am at 500 now and ready for the surgery. Once I got over 450 I noticed that I couldn't do the same things anymore and ended up on disability, and have to sit in the car when others go in stores and stuff, I got a power chair now so I can go inside but the looks I get are heart breaking. I know it was my fault to let myself get this way, so It's up to me to get back.
I started taking Visalus (body by Vi) 2 shakes in the day and a small meal at night and that is what helped me get to 500 and trying to go to the pier and fish to get out as much as I can, that is also the reason I got the boat. to get me back active.

I totally understand what you have went through and I can say I wish I lived closer to you, cause I sure would help you and bait your hook anytime. Take care my friend.

I love hearing stories of people that have "seen the light" in whatever was taking them down and decided to stand up and do something about it. For me it was smoking...long hard fight to stop, but I've been smoke free now for over 10 years. (Not easy for someone that smoked for over 40 years). Jdog, you're on the right track my man. Keep up the good work. I look forward to meeting and fishing with you someday.

WOW Congratz!!! on being smoke free that is just awesome, I am sure every day your lungs are healing, I used to smoke 4 packs a day when I was a cab driver in CA. I smoked for about 7 years and then started dipping and never touched another cig, but now I have to quit dipping so my theeth don't fall out lol.

My hat is off to you sir, great job!!!!
And I would love to go fishing with you also, I'm sure it would be great times.
God Bless

Jdog, best of luck with your surgery. I know a few people who have been through it and have never heard a negative word about it. You will be so glad you did it.

I'm 39, been a smoker for the last 20 years and hoping to quit early next year on my 40th b-day. I know, some would say why wait til then? Well, that is the type of question only a smoker can answer.

Keep us posted with the boat....and anything else.

Blue, the answer to that is that you're not ready to quit. And you're right, only a smoker would understand. I'll be rooting for you, no matter when you try. Just remember these words.. "We don't do that anymore"
So when you try to stop, and you forget and reach for the pack that's no longer in your shirt pocket, (and you will) you just repeat those words.. They serve as a positive reinforcement of the action you already took to stop. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to actually stop, once you start giving yourself that 2 second pep talk. Best of luck.

Thanks, unfortunately I know all too well what it is like to quit. I quit cold turkey for 8 months once. Didn't bother me a bit after the initial craving. But then very slowly slipped back into it. v1
