Just being 66 years of age is a challenge and I have fished and hunted my entire life with happiness, but when s--t happens, now I have to laugh and get over it.
Friday, 12-7, we fished sandy hook reef again for tog. It was a slow pick but around 3:00 pm the bite came on! So I stayed a little later but came up 1 short of our two man limit, and was back at the ramp at dark. My partner said, "The chain is up and locked to the ramp, do you have the key?", I said, "Yes the key is in the truck". He is also a senior so he backed the truck down the ramp, into the chain, ripped off my bunks, relocated the fenders and was headed to the winch post. Meanwhile, I am screaming stop! stop! I got out of the boat ran to the truck and stopped him. OKAY, so its not OEM hearing, typical senior problem, bobo aftermarket parts!!!! Now I am looking for the trailer bunk floating away and looking for the bolts. WOW! The only thought was to duck tape the bunks on and load the boat before low tide which was coming fast. Drove the boat onto the trailer and managed to get home.
Laughing on the way home thinking about doing damage control and my next FISHING TRIP. Oh by the way I had a camera in my pocket to take some pics since there were a couple of big fish, but that didn't happen.
