Sandy

As the power comes back on across the NE, just wanted all you guys to know we been thinkin' about you and the different world many of you awoke to this morning...we'll continue to think about you as you dig out of the mess Sandy left in her wake and return you lives to some normalcy...

I'm with reel, I'm seeing these images on the the news and all I can think about is the guys on this site and there familys. Be safe fellas!!

at least we have our hurricanes in the summer, when its warm. you guys stay safe and don't worry, the federal govt is on their way.

Got lucky at the house a tree uprooted my fence but didn't hit the house. Lots of other homes were hit by trees. We are the only block in our area with power. My boat on the other hand is most likely a total loss. The marina flooded and it was washed off its blocks. Supposedly its laying on its side but I won't be able to get to it until the water recedes. I hope everyone else is safe.

Sorry to hear about that beautiful boat of yours...I remember being highly impressed w/her floating there on Tice's...but at the same time, more that happy to hear you and your family are safe, that your home is livable and you are seemingly in the minority of folks who have power...

Hey guys just checking in....Wilson family made out fine out where we are. We are about 25 miles due west of Manhattan, about 35-40 miles north of Willy. High winds, some BIG trees down and no power but other than that no damage to homes or anything like that. Big problem thats going to develop is no gas. The few gas stations that had power yesterday sold out in short order.

Got enough for another couple days with the generator after that will have to start siphoning out of the boat in the driveway if it comes to that.

Sorry to hear about you guys and your boats down by the water!

That is what I want to know.. Willy? Destroyer? - SITREP please.. Thoughts are with all, I know you got bigger fish to fry than keeping us updated but please chime in when can.

He probably does not have power. Cell service here in this area is bad at best due to the outages... A lot of cell towers are awaiting power. Just hope he made it through OK though. It was pretty bad here in Staten Island. A lot of friends lost their boats and at least 4 marinas have been totally destroyed. I personally have a boat but no marina left to dock it at. Not sure what the future holds for me.:rain:

Cam, glad your OK. In a few days things will return to quasi-normal, hang in there.

Slinger, Capt. Pete too, if you got a minute and see this give us a report.. Along with anyone else that might be eyes on the ground.

I talked to Willy Monday night around 5:30, he was fine no power since monday around 1 pm but generator was running but his well pump had died. no water but he had beer and liquor. Was worried about his boat as it was on blocks but the water was already close to the bottom of it in the boat yard. said the plug was in it as the insurance told him to do.

I talked to Willy last night, said about the same as what he told Skools, I tried to call him today, all I got was answering service

We are good here!! Wind was going and some rain, but not super bad. We were called on the reverse 911 system and told to get out, but I am on a high spot and had no worries!! Thank God I was right, nothing happened, last night was a different story, we had a Microburst that trashed the area worse then the Hurricane! Never lost power, they flicked a little and I thought they were going to go but they never did.
My son lost power for like 15 hours but its back on nw, he is a landscaper so he is going to be a busy guy!!
CB made out just fine!! But his daughter lives a little ways from hin and lost her power for a while but since got it back.

Glad all is ok with you guys!!

Finally got into the marina today. My boat was nowhere to be found Not a good feeling. Finally after searching for ten minutes I caught A glimpse of it. It and 3 other boats washed right to the edge of the yard next to the lagoon. A few more feet and it probably would have gone in and sank. Amazingly it took on no water. The lower unit is stuck in the mud but the hull looks to be ok. The clean up around toms river begins. Its going to be a long process. Still not much power around town and crazy lines for gas.

we rode out the storm without problem. We only lost power for about 2 hours on Sunday. My Dad however didn't do so good. He and my stepmother got out in time but the house was consumed by 4ft of seawater. My marina lost approx. 30 boats, they floated away. There was almost 3ft of water in my shop. There are a few more inlets between Manasquan and Barnegat. Lots of houses completely gone. Lots of looting on the island.

Ok in Annapolis, not so much in Brick, NJ

Here in Annapolis we were lucky. Very minor damage to the house and relatively brief power outages. I texted Parrot6909, who is in Brick, NJ to see how he was doing. The picture below is the former Reelapeelin that I bought from Parrot last month. The V21 rode out the storm on the trailer in my driveway with no damage. This picture is at the slip where Parrot used to keep the boat at the island he refers to below, about 4 blocks from his house. You can see it would not take much of a surge to wreak havoc on this area. I asked him how he faired the storm. Here's his reply:

"It's pretty bad, the boats that were around the island are strewn about the neighborhood and in houses. No power since Monday, gas stations are dry... our house made it, trees didn't. Really can't complain. Lots of rebuilding to do. Every house from 3 houses away from me on toward the water is a total loss. Fires, floods. Its horrible. But again, alive, have food, water and the house.

Look for pictures from Parrot when he gets power back.
