Saltwater Registry in New Jersey

As an FYI to all NJ members here, and anyone who may be thinking of fishing in NJ saltwater, please remember that you MUST have a valid registry with you while you fish. New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife (http://www.nj.gov/dep/saltwaterregistry/index.html) is now reminding all saltwater anglers that they must register with the New Jersey Saltwater Recreational Registry Program (NJSRRP) prior to fishing in 2012. Registration is still free. Individual anglers and for-hire owner/operators can now register for the 2012 Saltwater Recreational Registry Program. Anglers who registered in 2011 are reminded that registrations expire at the end of each calendar year and must be renewed annually. To renew a 2011 registration select "RENEW ANY REGISTRATION". Anglers or for-hire vessel owners/operators who have not registered with the NJSRRP previously should select "NEW INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION" or "NEW FOR-HIRE REGISTRATION" respectively.

So Christie's like a "Big Brother" kinda guy...in more ways than one!!...want some butter on those hushpuppies there governor??...:nut:

ours here in mass was free for a year then went to $10 the next, i have heard rumor that they want to make it like a fresh water at some point?? $27:bat:

The registration is for anyone that wants to fish in Federal waters off NJ. It does cover inland waters too, but not sure of all the particulars. Living in Staten Island and fishing in the Raritan Bay or off Sandy Hook, the registration is required by me in NJ and NY. Both are free.

here in mass. you need saltwater lic. to fish all tilde waters. i pay $10 for it on top of my commercial lic of $250, then A $65 for a 2 year boat reg, $55 trailer reg every year, excize tax what ever, $132 mooring fee. and i never started fishing yet!

So "registry" is in ADDITION to a fishing license??...:head:

In NJ a fishing license is for fresh water. The Saltwater Registration was a way around having to pay the $25 fee to the federal gov. Christie established a free registery by law because the feds said that any state that already had a saltwater license didn't have to pay the Federal one... so by making this free registery Christie got around having NJ anglers pay that extra $25 BS to the Feds.
