Next week I'll be going for my 2nd neck surgery, I've got 3 more screwed up discs and I've been putting it off for 4 years! And thats really not terrible , but I'll tell ya what is. I've been waiting for the best dock space on the great South Bay for 4 years and it just became available to me this spring. Their is a good chance I won't even be able to take my boat out this year because of the neck surgery, but I took the spot anyway because I didn't want to loose it for the years to come ! It is the very first dock space in wonderfull Freeport, my buddy has cought keeper Bass and Fluke rite from the dock ! My son in law uses the boat also but he and my youngest daughter are expecting their first child on the day of my surgery , I'm guessing he won't be going out much either. And yesterday I wound up in the hospital with my lower back, it was just awful pain , they loaded me up with heavy duty muscle relaxers let me sleep for several hours and sent me on my way... I'm actually curious as to how many of you guys would have taken the spot !,,,,, I think I could have put this thread in the Repair forum !!

Sometimes you gotta bite the bullet. I would have taken the spot. Just being able to go down to the marina and putter around might be nice.

Ugh Sorry to hear about your back again John. Was hoping it was on the mend. As for the spot, I'd guess it would depend on how much it was and if they (the marina) would allow me to sub-let the space. I had a great spot in Leonardo several years ago. Put my name on the waiting list and after many years slip #4 became available. In that time the rental fee went up by a third. I took the spot anyways, but due to some marital difficulties was never able to use it. Finally gave it up after 2 years. Moral is if you can use it or think you can use it take it. But f it's just going to be a money drain, no matter how good it might seem, it's time to let it go. If you can sub-let it that's another story. even if you lose a little money as long as you still maintain the rights to it for the following season then really all your paying for it the ability to maintain ownership of the spot. Good luck with the back. If you need any help let me know.

As I had mentioned at the top of this thread my surgery is this week and my youngest daughters due date is today. She has said to me many times in the last month and a half that she can't believe I would schedule my surgery on her due date as she wants me and my wife to be their and she doesn't want to have to be worrying about me in surgery! Of course my reply every time is that I made the appointment back in march and was hoping for a date in April but the surgeons first availability was today, and of course who gives birth on their due date rite? Well apparently my daughter does because as I sit here at 2 Am stuing and thinking about getting myself and hospital papers in order the phone rings and it's my son in law ! Yep they are in the hospital !! Seriously? What are the friggin chances ? I've been running around like a lunatic the past 2 weeks trying to get all my jobs done before today so I wouldn't have to stress over things unfinished !! The very last thing I did on my way home last night was to stop at my daughters and finish the trim molding on the air conditioner in the baby's room. you just couldnt make this crap up!! . Ok gotta shower and be in the hospital in 3 hours

John, like you said, who can make this up? LOL. Congratulations on your new grandbaby and best of luck with the upcoming surgery. I have no doubt that you, your daughter and the new baby are all going to come through this with flying colors. (And to the new baby all I have to say is ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
:birthday:

Thanks for all the well wishes. It was a rough few days but most importantly the little angel and her mom are all well.i got home from the hospital yesterday morning. Im ok now as well but my body had a reaction to the new plastic material the surgeon used to make the repairs on my neck ,they mad me swell so badly that it basically was closing off my wind pipe and my wife had to run me back to the hospital in the middle of the night . That part was a bit scary I'll admit but all uphill now. And unbelievably unlike the last surgery I've lost absolutely no strength witch is totally the opposite reaction I had the last time and I have no clue as to why. And that's the sole reason I put off the second surgery for the last4 years .crazy but what do I know !!

where is the slip? are you right on guy Lombardo? what do they get for it? how long is the ride to Jeremy's ale house?
these are all factors that would have helped in my decision.

Charlie, I'm actually behind the very first house on Guy Lombardo, it's no more than a 3 minute ride to the state channel and as I mentioned in the last post I'm experiencing none of the problems that kept me off my boat after the last spine surgery. So I may be in in a month or so....
