Rod holder angle?

Want to add a couple rod holders in between what I have now which means I will have to extend them into the side rod holder compartments. Would any degree angle work better than the other? I plan to use rod riggers in the new rod holders. Thanks, Barry
 
I'VE JUST REPLACED MINES, THEY WERE NORMAL 30 DEGREE ANGLE. DEPENDING ON THE YEAR OF YOUR BOAT (MINE IS 1979) YOU'LL HAVE TO GO THRU THE ROD POCKETS (SEE UNDER REPAIRS, ROD BOXES AND YOU CAN SEE SOME PICS) , NOW BE CAREFUL THOSE ORIGINAL ROD POCKETS ARE VERY, VERY FRAGILE.

ABOUT THE ROD HOLDERS I BOUGTH THEM WITH A WIDE
FLANGE TO COVER UP THE OLD MARC AND THE OLD SCREWS HOLES, AND ALSO I INSTALLED THEM ANGLED
OUTWARD BECAUSE THE NEW ROD POCKET WAS NARROWER THAN THE ORIGINALS.
