ride of a 23 w/a

i was curious to see if anyone has ever rode in a wellcraft 23 w/a. i am assuming the hull is the same as a v23. i think its 1991 model.

I believe the 228 is closer to the 248 in hull shape, so they are probably pretty similiar. If so it isn't a bad ride, but is sensitive to balance and doesn't go into the rough fast.

it still doesnt sound bad. they have one for sale next to here for really cheap and it has twin 140 loopers. it has the trim tabs and some other options. i never owned a w/a or cuddy but they do look like they have alot of room in the back. i'll have to go look at the boat and experience the lay out 1st hand. ferm you think she would be able to run 30 mph in 1-3's?

You might find a great deal on twin boats right now the problem is that there is not any good deals on the amount of gas those older motors are going to suck up. I'd rather pay more for a 23 WA with a larger single motor then any boat with twin older motors. Thats the reason there are so many for sale right now and they are not selling even at real low prices.

that is true, but im not worried about the fuel i always have people willing to chip in. i just need twins so i can get back in 65 miles out. also if i really like the boat i will put some DI's on the back. anyone knows if it has a fishbox?

Are you sure it's only a 228 and not a 248? Normally twins only came on the 248 and larger from the ones I've seen. I've seen a few 228's with twin 115's, but that's about the biggest I have seen. 30 MPH in 1-3 footers will probably be pushing it a bit hard from my experience in a 248. The 248 I rode in did pretty good up to 22 MPH, but beyond that it started pounding HARD.

im going look at it this after noon and i'll fidn out exactaly what model it is. yeah thats what i figured, but i do not go out into the gulf if its rough anyway, too much stuff gets broken. usually the wave action in the gulf is spaced pretty far apart, im guessing it should ride better than my v-20. do you know what the deadrise is on the boat?

here are some pics

it doesnt seem to bad of a boat from the specs. it was what im looking for, bait keeper, large fishbox, 22gal livewell and at least 100 gal fuel tank. i can live with 18 deg of dead rise. it should be pretty efficient being it does not have alot of v to it.

It appears to be a 236 from the photos off the WELLCRAFT site and the HP hanging off the back. That there is a different animal than the 248 I've ridden in. Depending upon year it could have a 100 gallon or 140 gallon tank in her.

man ferm i hope its that one, that looks like one hell of a fishing machine. more dead rise, multiple fish boxes, and live well. that has to be the boat there is another pic of teh v-berth and it looks identical, that would be sweet if it had the 140 gal tank. you ever rode in one of those ferm?

Not a 236, I have a 238 and it was pretty nice. The 238 I believe is pretty similiar to the 236 and I know the 238 will take rough water better than a 248 will.

thats good to hear, i go nuts not being able to get out to the rip during the summer and that boat should be more than enough. like i said the gulf is pretty forgiving. i need to sell my two boats 1st though. unless the wife lets me buy this one before i sell the other..lol
thanks for the info ferm

Come on, just buy it. Everybody needs a yard full of boats, I lost count of all of mine:zip:. What's wrong with taking the V-20 out there? I've been out there in small boats before.

Then again, I'm NUTS!!!:nut:

haha, i yard full of boats doesnt bother me but its the wife i need to keep happy..lol
i could use the money from the other two to do upgrades to the coastal

you were on the money as usualy ferm, its a 236. the trailer is half desecent shape, tires need replacing, and a couple of rollers here and there. frame is good. the boat shows its age. guages are weathered, radio inop, electronics and and non functional, dash old worn, canvas torn and needs repacing, gel needs compounding and the biggest knock to her is the transom flexes alot just by pushing hard on the lowers. but she does have trim tabs. haha. also im assuming the fish box is on the stb side behind the captain chair?

i just menat i saw it for sale on the internet somewhere, but i can't remember where. wither way it caught my attention. but it sounds like he needs to come of the price for the repairs.
