Rewire/Panel Progress

If I can't fish, at least it's been mild enough to work on the boat.

I'm going to add some Taco flex trim around the panel to clean it up. There are a few chips on the edges, plus the trim should seal the panel a little better. I might even put an additional weather strip underneath.

Before, there was just a bus/fuse bar combo screwed to the back of the panel. I decided to add a house battery and have a two banks. Will clean up the routing some, but here's the work in progress.

I'll fabricate some sort of cover so all that stuff isn't exposed.

Thanks, MJ. I have some extra sheets of the panel material, if you or anyone else is interested. It's 1/4" High Density Polyethylene (same stuff Starboard is) and I got it cheap from eBay. Unfortunately, I need 1/2" thick in white or lt. gray to do the other projects. I think I'll add a dual-battery voltmeter and that should be it for the instruments. (Empty hole is for the tach.) I have a new Ritchie Angler compass to replace that terrarium in the top pic. New VHF I think will go nicely to the right of the wheel so it doesn't mess with the compass. I'm a fan of the R-A-M mounts from Cabela's and will mount the FF and eventually the chartplotter on that flat area on the right. Lastly, I should probably add some kind of clear plastic splash shield for that switch panel, since the rockers aren't exactly waterproof. That'll be cheaper than the $40 extra that the waterproof switch panel would've cost me.

Chesapeak, You guys do some nice wiring, will you do mine? Did you have a factory cover inside the cuddy that covered the factory wiring (back of the dash), my 89 does. Also at the top of your new inst. panel if you caulk and mount a 1/2" angle alunm.,s steel or plastic from a craft shop wider than the panel to the dash first, you create a drip edge that keeps water from running behind panel. I just did mine over this summer. I used 1/4 white starboard for my dash. And I put my switch pannel to the right side also.
I also like the rams, but because of money at the time I decided to do it this way. It wored out pretty nice!! I am happy with it.

My VHF is mounted on the inside right in the cuddy, and the mike reaches fine and UI have a remote speaker. This keeps it high and dry! But for some reason I have to buy a new radio every 3 years?
Being a old CB person I think it has tio do with the tuneing of the attenna, that burns them out??

Thanks for the tip, crusher. You can see the snaps in the picture, so I'm guessing there was some kind of cover inside the cabin. It didn't come with the boat. Is yours soft, like a canvas or maybe carpet to match the headliner? I was going to cut a plastic basin apart to serve as a cover, and either velcro or screwed into the cabin wall.
