Raymarine Dragonfly???

I haven't seen that before. Looks interesting for sure. Personally, I'm a little leary though. I've had some bad experiences with Raymarine, so I'll step back and wait till it's been around for a while. ...Besides... $600 buys a lot of beer & bait in the cooler. But like I said, it most definetely looks cool.

speaking of beer... what are the laws like in the US. Here in Canada it's the same as if you were driving your car,,, and you will lose your drivers licence if you get caught. The police are on the water here and check for beer, boaters licence, ect... In order to consume you must have a head on your boat and not just a port a potty, must be a real head.

What the hell is a real head ?? AAA if its a holding unit without direct dumping into a controled waterway it's a aproved unit ? to many LABATTS !! will get you in trouble, any way I looked at this unit at the sportsman show in w.spfld last week it looks OK but I would give any new unit a few month's to see how people like it or not

a port a potty, it's portable toilette as compaired to a toilette with a holding tank that has to be pumped out..

Have you guys checked this out? I think this is what I want for my boat; I have the Raymarine Ray49 VHF radio and just purchased a new antenna...but I love the look/features of this GPS FF...?
BTW msrp is @ $600

Does the $600 include the transducer?...and is there(besides fasteners) anything else needed for installation and use?...I like that and I just got through raving about how much I like my Lowrance Elete 5

Well I just ordered it. I got promoted at work and this is my gift to myself. :) We shall see..I'll let you guys know how it is!

btw greywolf your comments make me laugh. I agree. a toilet is irrelevant when it comes to drinking and boating wtf.. lol

I find that incredible!!! I mean, wtf difference does it make to drinking a beer if you take a pee in a port-a-potty or in a fixed head, or over the side? Sometimes the "logic" of the lawmakers escapes me. I guess it's true what they say... "You can't cure stupid".

And no, in the states we can drink in a boat with or without a head. (Fixed or portable) But, in most states, the laws for drinking and driving a boat are the same as for driving a car. Except that if you are caught drunk boating you lose your car driving license.

I would like to apologize for hijacking this post but my question was a sample one. I was just asking a question. May be I should repost it separate from this one, LOL.

sample? I meant simple,, just like me very simple, LOL. I'm going to quit posting..

what I've found in the past with ray Marine is that their lower price line(<$1000) is usually built by some one else and marketed by them. That transducer looks just like the ones that Lowrance is using(probably made by airmar). The last time I messed with a lower end Ray marine unit was on a customers boat that complained it was blacking out. I checked it out and found that he had it on course up(i run North up) and all the features turned on. Every time he turned the wheel a little, it would rewrite the screen, because he had everything turned on, it took a few seconds for it to rewrite. I turned half the options off and set it to North up and it worked far better, he still didn't like it and replaced it with a garmin. When I was talking to Ray Marine tech service about it, the tech guy told me about them not making it

Don't be silly, that's where the fun of this board comes in. The free flow of ideas and information is what makes this a great place to visit and hang out. No apology is needed or desired. For instance, I never knew about needing a fixed toilet in Canada when drinking on a boat. Now when I fish Lake Ontario i'll be careful to stay on the States side if I'm enjoying an adult beverage.

I'm all up for for friendly debate just did not mean to hijack the post. Thinking back I should have started a new one..

I thought that transducer looked familiar...the head looks different, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out the guts inside are the same as Lowrance's HD...
