Prop Repair

I purchased a new aluminum prop off of ebay, when it got here one of the blades was bent.

The seller is sending me another one and said I could just keep the first and see if I could fix it.

How do I fix it?

safe way take to a prop shop that will line all blades and get the balance correct so no fear of vibration, should run about $20 to $25 to get fixed.

However this is an excellent opportunity to get experiance.
Daddy uses a piece of RR track rail and a medium hammer.
If it was me I'd do like Skools said and gain a cheap extra prop.

The BALANCING the prop-shop will do is as important as gettin the blade straightened out ;) ... let the pros do this one, R'man ;) ...

Hammer the crap out of it!! Thats what I would do!!

Of coarse I have a lot of penned up frustration right now!! ;D

You could try bending it back out but the problem is that if its not correctly ballanced it can cause damage. Even if you cannot feel vibration in the steering wheel it could still be unbalanced. The vibration from the prop over time can cause damage to the gearing in the lower unit which is an expensive job and not worth the few bucks you have saved.

The new, new prop arrived yesterday.

I highly recommend "mmlsurplus" on ebay, they treat you right.

As for the balance, I wouldn't think it would be off from the prop being bent such a small amount.

That being said, I will check with a prop shop at the coast this weekend to see how much $.
