Have a 89 v20 cuddly with hard top
89 Mercury 150 messing a round with props
Any one else have a rig close to that

What size prop you running and what's the Rpm's???

I have a merc 115 on a CC and 15" pitch works for me... I'd suspect you'd want a 17...

BTW... No such thing as a cuddly.... The word is cuddy. ;-)

I'd also guess a 17" would be close.
If you have a habit of loading the boat heavy a 15" might perform better.

I'm running a 17 and can't get more than 4700 out the f it
Turning point said 15x15 4 blade. That seems to slow me down but good hole shot The motor was a little low - picked it up - now guess I should try the 4 blade again
Any one else try a 4 blade ???

4 blades typically give better hole shot and mid range cruise due to reduced prop slippage, but top end tends to suffer because of extra drag from the extra blade. Is this a 2.0l, 2.4L, or 2.5L engine? Pretty sure the 2.5L didn't come out unti lthe early 90's, but thats not to say the powerhead wasn't swapped out with one at one time. Also would help to know what gear ratio is in the lower unit. From the factory the 2.0L had a 2:1, and the 2.4/2.5 had a 1.86:1 lower unit. If you get a 1.86: lower on a 2.0L, it will be dog out of the hole. I've always liked the large diameter 3 blade props for ocean going boats with outboards. Not to much of a fan of turning point myself from all the bad reviews I have read on them being VERY inconsistent and poor build quality.

Have to be honest turning point hasn't impressed me either . I'm all ears for recommendations . Let me see what info I can get on my motor !

The SOLAS HR TITAN 4 has good reviews on it. I always liked michigan wheel props myself. The APOLLO large diameter is what I ran on my HYDRA SPORTS when I had it, but they only go down to a 17 pitch in them, and a 17 large diameter runs like most others 18 or 19(they slip little if any, so they hook up instead of spinning like a blender). They also have the 4 blade apollo that is a nice looking prop.

I have a 1988 150 mercury black max and am using a 15 x17 inch prop , and it's perfect top end is about 37 mph and no slipping at all , it really bites the water Try to get a loner and check it out
