I read that on THT this morning...it sounds great, but what keeps comin' back to me is; I didn't know outboard warrantys covered commercial use which he sounds like charter...

Yeah. Terry is a charter Capt. A very successful one too. A couple things possibly;
1. The dealer takes care of him in that there is no mention to the factory about him being comm.
2. Does the factory look at small charter businesses differently than say someone in the biz to sell their catch only? I don't know, but quite possibly.

Regardless of the reason, sounds like he's been treated well by both the dealer and Bombardier. That dealer is right between me and MJ.

BTW; Terry does the charter biz on the side. I believe he is a MA State Cop. 8)

They've got several reasons to treat him good...glad to hear they're good people to begin with
;) ...

Did he go down on the E-Tec upgrade?...

Yeah, he said that he was opting for the E-Tech. I think he's out for the season and the new motor is on order or something like that. 8)

When I went to dealer yesterday to check on stuff for MJ, saw new E-Tecs in the boxes stacked to the ceiling...got wood 8) ...

Read his latest post. Looks like Bombardier found out he runs charters and changed the original deal. He is still gettting the ETEC but I think its costing him a few more bones.

i think it cool that they been so nice to him. but still, 3 motors in three years! would you rather have people that are realy nice, or a product that works? it's like my deal with best buy. great service, those peeps have bent over backwards to satisfy me.(one of 'em i would like to bend over frontwards but, since i'm married...) but, even with all thier smiles and being nice, it still took a month to get a tv that works. point is, is it raining, or are they just pi$$ing down his back?

Well they have changesd that he still gets the E Tec for the $4000 but this time he is only getting 1 year warr cause of the biss part. Still making out!! IMO

Well things have changed a bit regarding the motor deal. Since I posted this on THT it has come to Bombardier's attention that I run some charters with my boat. Due to that they are considering me a commercial user and that was not factored into the equation when they made me the original deal. I just got off the phone with the head of Bombardier's warranty dept and she explained the situation and sincerly wants to make this work for everyone involved.

Since they want my business and they don't want to leave me in the lurch they have come forward with a new offer based on the new circumstances.

Option 1# I get a new powerhead on the existing motor and my warranty will be complete due to being comercial. No money out of pocket, but also no more warranty, including my extended warranty since it too does not cover any comercial usage.

Option #2 I get to purchase a new 2007 E-Tec with the 1 year comercial warranty on the new engine. The price will be discounted significantly for me compared to buying a new engine under normal circumstances.

I chose option #2. I will still be getting a new 2007 E-tec under the terms of the new deal we've aggreed upon.

While it's not the deal I had planned on, I understand where Bombardier is coming from and appreciate them taking the time to reach out to me personally and also coming forward with a deal that still works out well for me. Also thanks to Eagle Marine for going to bat for me.

Looks like my first guess was correct.

1. The dealer takes care of him in that there is no mention to the factory about him being comm.

Some one droped ::) dime om him!!

No...........he just talked about it too much on the internet. THT is widespread and I'm sure someone within the ranks at Bombardier read his stories.
