Hi guys looking for someone in the States that sell parts must be others than Summit Racing there must be a opposition :fight:

It's not hard to beat SUMMIT's prices anymore, BUT they WILL price match to keep your business. JEGS on the other hand is ALOT easier to do price matches with as you don't have to call them to do it. Just put in the other price and a copy of the link to it and it's done.

thanks again Ferm I can always rely on you checked them all out .What I need is 4 connecting rods they are as 1 piece or a set of 8 .The problem is Eagle are not making these rods for the moment so im stuck . Looks like I may have dig deeper to buy a set of 8 . I really don't want to use the stock rods on my engine as it will be making more touque and I don't want them breaking . Where I plan to go fishing 90min trip one way and ill be holding the engine at 5500 rpm so I want to avoid and weak points on the engine as there little but no hope find a donor engine here . The cost of doing my rods is around 200 with shot penning - I have emailed Eagle direct and there going to see if the can make a set of 4 that the weights are with in 5 grams .Been doing a lot of research on the net on 460 hp and there are claims that it easy to get 500hp from a 460 with cast heads ; Well there might be a chance I can sell of the other extra 4 connecting rods if I can find someone stupid enough to do what im doing LOL

:laugh::laugh::cry:

500 hp in a 4 cyl merc in a boat?

UH I don't think so Tim.... Unless ur planning on a supercharger

Now 500 hp from a ford 460 big block V8 then yeah but not a merc 470

Ferm, the last few things I got from Summit were within a couple dollars of Jegs, and Jegs web site sucks, Summits site is one of ht easiest places to look up parts. I'll find what I want on Summit, then check the part number elsewhere to see if I can beat it. KMJ has had some real good deals lately. I've got a set of their rods in my 383 for the buggy

AUsie said 500 from a 460, so I think he's thinking 250 hp from the 3.7. personally I think you're over doing it. 4bbl carb,altenator conversion, better valve train, reground cam, aftermarket head, pertronix ignition, and a good solid bottom end should be good for around 200-225 hp easily. Mercruiser had the engine rated at 190 at one time. Looking at what fails the most on these engine under normal use. The valve train and head gaskets seem to be the biggest issue. I would definitely get cam bearings installed in the block so you'll have better oil pressure.

yeah ill be getting 600hp out of me 3.7 at half throttle ---what I was saying that 250 hp out of a 3.7 is achievable but im not looking at those figures --if the rate a a 190hp in stock form with that boat anchor head on it I cant see why 250hp would be hard--Anyway got some emails from Eagle and I guy Alan is willing to go out of his way to help and asked me the wait of the rods so im of to the machine shop to weigh them-I want my engine to be able to sit on 5500rpm all day

you need to keep the rpm below 6000(5500 even better), neither the out drive or the timing chain will hold up to high rpm. There was a guy in Atlanta that took one of those motors and ran it in a NHRA econo/ rail car. One of the first things he did was eliminate the cam chain and went to a gear to gear drive

it wont be going past 5500 rpm it will have a rev limiter and the gear set will be a ford crank gear and a chev camshaft gear that's if I can find a chain to fit it ..I do have access to a engine dyno but maybe my mate wont want this piece of **** in his shop. I don't think he has got 460 pipes to put on it ---Might just ask him just for all the Critics on here it might be lucky to make the 190hp at the flywheel . Im sure Mercs figures weren't too correct . The only thing I don't like on engine dynos the engine gets worked too hard before it is broken in I always nursed my new engine for 600 miles till the first oil change maybe there someone who can do it from the prop :hi:This year would have to be one of the worst years with disagreement's with friends and family wtf is going on ..... I must be loosing my mind cant be all theses people being wrong it must be me-----When others do the wrong thing I try and not get hot headed about it ---most times but if I do the wrong thing they want to crucifie me---Been having big **** fights with the wife and the inlaws and now it looks like the wife has teamed up with her *** of a mother---seriously I don't think this boat will ever get finished every time I attempt to move forward with it all hell breaks loose in the family..... Just don't know what way to go with her she makes me feel all alone with her remarks something surely needs to change even the kids always seem to side with mum as its the easy way for them---yeah that's it I have a family and I feel all alone how does that make sense how many times can I put up with this :nut::nut::nut::nut::nut::nut:

My head feels a little better even thou its Mothers Day and im not talking to the wife
Anyway got another email from Eagle and he asked me about the weights being the same as the others and then I realized that I didn't explain to him that it was for a 4cyl . I really forgot to tell him . So I need to wait till after the weekend to get a reply he also said he cant ship them directly to me and that he would like me to get them from Jeggs they don't have a listing for them and I hope there shipping is fair that's the main reason I use Summit plus Summits online shopping is really user friendly and you can get quotes for shipping there and then so fingers crossed

I have seen a lot on the sites you referred me too and I don't think it would be possible to turn my engine to 6500rpm its one big 4cyl its the torque of the engine im looking at more air more fuel and more compression gives more twisting affect on internals ---im not looking for high rpms im looking at making good figures at 5500rpm making power at 6500rpm will mean I will loose a lot of idle quality and low end torque not what I want in a fishing boat. this is why I have said im going solid in the cam grind it will not cost me any extra as I had to buy all the gear for the head the solid cam will give me a wider and longer torque rang and if the edelbrock head could run stock rocker gear I would of left it stock . yes I do need to start some action and get this boat in the water to see if it is as good as I thought
