Yesterday i was informed by my brother who borrowed my absolutly mint 1998 cadillac eldorado, ( my pride and joy mind you ) that the head gasket was blown North star engine of course. She only has 70,000 miles on her as i really only have time to drive it on sundays or to an estimate every once in a while. i drive my van 6 days a week. I was kinda waiting for this with all i have read about north star engines over the years . i am sitting on the fence with this one , any one have an idea what this should cost and is it worth repairing.

Generally speaking, it's a pain in the a$$ to get to anything under the hood of a modern day vehicle. That being said, unless there's something extra special about the Northstar engine that I don't know about (and that's very possible) I really can't see anything super difficult about changing a head gasket. If the only damage is just a blown head gasket, and the rest of the engine is ok and not damaged (warped heads, etc.) I'd think that repairing it would be a good idea......especially if it's nearly mint :head:

It would cost alot more than 3 grand to replace a Caddie and you wouldn't have your pride and joy .Just saying if it were me I'd get it fixed.

The only reason i'm thinking about not haveing it done is that The Third and last of my daughters is getting married and thats not gonna be cheap' So dad comes last again, and thats that. Thanks for letting me bounce this off you guys.
