On or Off?

I know I'm opening up a can of worms here but I have myself a conundrum.  My brother and I took the bow rail off today.  It was a P.I.T.A. due to twisted bolts and corroded nuts that can best be described as "crusty bits" (see pic # 1 with the last bit of the headliner that was removed).

I can't decide whether to put the bow rail back on or not.  I like the look either way though it seems a little nekid without it.  Whatcha think?

The last picture is the helm seat under repair.  Holes filled with Marinetex, remade seat and a coat of primer.

Tuna, keep that puppy off, I did it and it gives the V shape a diffrent classy look. They are like t!ts on a bull anyhow and in my opinion will get in your way someday as they have with me a few times, especially if you are going to be trailering your boat.

same as rap, if your gonna have anybody on the bow while you underway, keep it. my kids like to ride up front. somebody here shortened the legs on the rail and it looked good.

Just came from Coast Guard meeting Saturday night, if your vessel is under way with somebody on the bow, they are gonna bust you hard this summer. Seems that is one of the top enforment issues this year, at least it is for Coast Guard Group Eastern Shore.

As for the rail, mine is on, but I have considered removing it.

As Air said, I got busted years ago with the kids up there underway!!

I took mine off, yea looks a little naked at first, but what you need it for??

Bow rope or Anchore rope is always under when should be over or over when it should be under, and when you drive boat on to trailer alone and try to climb down the front its in the way again!!

I vote for off!!

I looked at it again this morning as I left for work. For now it's staying off. The only one I know who likes to ride up front is me when I'm in my buddy's boat. Now I'll be driving.

Keep it off !! Nobody needs to ride up there anyway. It's just more to contend with. Leave it off and you can anchor from the helm and use a gaff to retrieve the rope.

I like em off. I took mine off, but of course Im runnin an 18 and not a 20.

If I was runnin a cuddy NOONE would be on the bow while underway. :o

i was told by state marine patrol that since i had a rail & their feet were hanging in the cabin, it was ok, but feds might have a different opinon. thanks for the heads-up

I say keep it on.
Tuna, any chance of snapping a pic. of your roller at keel. Wanna see how you mounted it. Wanna add a roller there as well maybe.
As it always been a law about persons sitting on the bow, but never enforced ?? I let the kids sit on the bow when I'm in the canal and also when I take them dalphin watching. Always at a safe slow speed.
